The 'Centre of Everywhere but the Middle of Nowhere' is the best way to describe Portnellan. With easy access to the stunning and picturesque West Coast of Scotland. Very mountainous with deep lochs and steep glens. Although the wilderness is all around you the bustle of interesting Scottish towns and cities is within an easy commute by car, rail and bus.

Guestbook for Portnellan

I don't know what I was expecting when we arrived but I was so pleasantly surprised. It was so easy to find and Cameron and his wife were so friendly and showed us to the cabin. It was dark so we couldn't enjoy the scenery quite yet so we settled into the cabin. We settled in very quickly with a long walk round the beautiful grounds and we relaxed inside the very homely cabin with a few beers wi fi and flat screen with satellite tv AND recliners made this easy. We woke up the next day early to take the dog out and we were completely blown away with the views from the full front window that looked over the lochs and valleys. A day of walking then more relaxing was amazing . This was a fantasic holiday and would be even better in summer to enjoy the balcony. We stayed in the Eagle cabin and I would say it had THE BEST views .

The weather has been outstanding all week with glimpses of Roe and Red deer just below the lodge have contributed to a fantastic holiday in this location. Our supply of bird seed and peanuts has only lasted the week but we did not spot the wood pecker this year.
