Located in Portnellan's private courtyard with views across the lambing meadow to the Loch and River Dochart, this topsy turvy (living quarters upstairs, sleeping quarters downstairs) this semi detached cottage has had a recent interior refurbishment to include redecorated walls, doors and ceilings, low energy LED lighting, new mega flow hot water system and new carpets.
You enter Curlew from Portnellan's private courtyard into a stone built porch area where your garden furniture is stored. To the left and right are the bedrooms and bathroom. One double and one twin. One bathroom with a bath and an overhead shower. Stairs lead to an upstairs landing. To the left is a fully fitted modern hand built Cherry wood kitchen with all modern conveniences including washer/dryer, dishwasher, NEFF ceramic, fridge, hob, oven and combination microwave.
To the right is a living and dining area with suite, writing chest, TV with SKY package and DVD. Upstairs with views across the lambing field across to the river and Loch Dochart where you can explore the island with its very own castle ruin. The property is fully double glazed with low energy electric heating throughout.

The Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park region
Portnellan is located in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, amidst the magical part of the Central Highlands people think of as 'real' Scotland. The picture books, the vivid memory of ex-pats, the immediate response of the first-time visitor... it is all here, all year round.
Portnellan is centrally located to reach many Scottish towns and cities with a good road network to travel on. There are many activities to see and do as well as great shopping at every level. However, in the immediate location of Portnellan there are a number of shops and mobile facilities to help with providing day to day groceries. I have listed a few below. Please note that Crianlarich Village Store, MacGregors and Gourlay Butchers work in partnership with Portnellan to provide order forms. This way you can order all your provisions in advance, delivered free of charge to your lodge or cottage on the day of your arrival. These order forms will be sent to you as part of your confirmation when booking.
Crianlarich Village Store
The village of Crianlarich which is less than 2 miles from Portnellan hosts a well stocked village store family owned by Isla and Bryan Craig. "A beautiful base to explore and see some of the most amazing scenery."
My family and I (husband, 15 and 12 year old) spent 3 nights at Curlew cottage and wish we could have stayed more. The cottage itself is furnished to a high standard, comfortable, clean and has everything you need. The views are stunning overlooking Ben More and we were very lucky to have great weather. The cottage is maintained by the welcoming staff of 'Portnellan' which is across the road. Here you are able to use their equipment such as bikes, oars, wetsuits for any activities and also their local knowledge is useful for any walks, cycle routes or places to visit. Wi-fi is available at an extra cost which we found useful for our 2 at the end of a day.
Our trip consisted of walking sections of the West Highland Way, a trip to killin to see the beautiful 'Falls of Dochart' and a great fish and chips in the Good Food restaurant! We will definately be back to 'bag' Ben More.
Thank you so much for the great review.
It is hugely appreciated as, new owners of Curlew Cottage, it proves we are doing something right.
I do hope you return.

"Stunning views and a cosy cottage - what more can you want from a break?!"
We stayed at Curlew Cottage in Portnellan as a last minute decision to celebrate Hogmanay.
Best decision ever. Fireworks were ace and the 'Loony Dook' on New Years Day was so much fun!!
The cottage itself was exactly what we needed for a getaway and the welcome by Cameron
and his family was second to none.
If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the 'real scotland' then come here.
We're coming back in summer!!
Many Thanks for your great review.
Its much appreciated. It is a cosy cottage and New Year is always great fun.
Look forward to welcoming you back in the summer for boating and fishing maybe.
