Relax and unwind on our organic farm in the heart of the Devon countryside. The cottage is very spacious with its own enclosed garden where you can sit and unwind on the patio and watch the cows over the fence and the wildlife around the nature pond and copse across the field.

The cottage has a spacious living / dinning room with oak floor, fireplace and large wood-burning stove (free logs supplied) a large free-sat TV and DVD player. French doors lead out to the garden. The large two-storey kitchen is fully equipped with a range cooker (gas hob), large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven and breakfast bar. The hallway off the kitchen has a spiral staircase leading to a mezzanine loft overlooking the kitchen. The loft has three futon chair/beds, free-sat TV and Wii gaming station.

Off the hall there is a large shower room with walk in shower, and two bedrooms; one twin bedroom and one with a triple sleeper bunk bed (double bed on the bottom). There is under floor heating throughout the ground floor. The master bedroom is accessed via a staircase from the kitchen and has a super king-size bed, lounge area with a sofa, wood-burning stove and TV and an en-suite bathroom with slipper bath and shower. Free Wi Fi is available throughout the cottage.

The lawned garden has two patios; the lower one has a dining area with table, chairs, sunshade and BBQ, with open views across the valley to the wildlife pond and birch copse. There is also a raised, more secluded patio area is ideal for relaxing and sunbathing.

Adjacent to the cottage is a separate table tennis and pool room with dart board, badminton and croquet sets. There is also a laundry room with washing machine, tumble drier and clothes airer.

The village of Cheriton Fitzpaine is 1.5 miles away and has a Post Office / shop, pub and farm shop selling local produce with a charming cafe for a relaxing morning coffee or afternoon tea. There are several good pubs and restaurants locally. The cottage is just 10 minutes from the market towns of Crediton and Tiverton and 20 minutes from the beautiful city of Exeter. If you enjoy walking there are footpaths close by.

Note: Although the cottage can sleep up to 10, three of the sleeping spaces are on futons on the mezzanine and two spaces are on a double lower bunk accessible only from one side. Our 4 Star rating with Quality in Tourism is therefore based on accommodating six people

The West Country region

Mid Devon is noted for its rolling hills and winding country lanes. Cheriton Fitzpaine lies mid way between Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks (both approx. 12 miles away) which provide excellent walking, cycling, riding and fishing opportunities. Both the north and south Devon coasts with their pretty fishing villages and rock pools are within 40 minutes drive. The North Devon coast is famous for its surfing whilst the south is know as the 'English Riviera'.

The beautiful cathedral city of Exeter is 20 minutes away by car. Here as well as the usual city shopping experience at Princesshay you will find the award winning RAMM Museum, the picturesque quay area, the Northcott Theatre, and under ground passages all worth a visit.

There are several off road cycle paths in the area including those from Topsham in Exeter down the estuary to Exmouth; along the Tarka Trail from Barnstaple (bike hire available); and across the Okehampton viaduct.

Devon boasts many National Trust properties. Castle Drogo, Knightshayes Court and Killerton are all within easy reach.

Peach Hayne Farm and cottage are 1.5 miles from the picturesque village of Cheriton Fitzpaine which boasts a pub and village post office/shop. On the outskirts of the village there is also Thornes Farm Shop, which sells local produce and has a charming café for morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. The cottage is within easy access of the local market towns of Tiverton and Crediton as well as the beautiful city of Exeter.

The cottage is surrounded by beautiful Devon countryside on a 112 acre organic farm with lots of indigenous flora and fauna. From the patio of the cottage you can sit and watch the wildlife activity around the large nature pond and birch copse. The cottage is opposite the main farm house so if there are any problems or questions we are on hand to sort things out.

There are lots of walks locally. A short but slightly steep walk across the valley affords some amazing views across Devon to Dartmoor. For those looking for something less demanding, Tiverton Canal provides a lovely level walk, as does the canal basin in Exeter. Why not walk, cycle or boat along the Exeter canal to the Turf Hotel - one of the few pubs in the country not accessible by car.

There are several pubs and restaurants locally, the closest being the Cadleigh Arms at Cadleigh (3 miles), a recently re-opened community owned pub, serving good food and local ales. Other local attractions include Bickleigh Mill and Devon Railway Centre (5 miles), Yearlestone Vineyard (5 miles), Tiverton canal and castle (9 miles)

Crediton (6 miles) is the nearest town. A small market town with local shops, supermarkets and leisure centre (swimming pool) with a Farmers Market on the first Saturday of the month.
