Number 1 is a stylish and beautifully presented 1 bedroom studio style cottage on two floors. A family with two children, one of whom is in a cot (under 2), are able to stay here. Number 1 is the smaller of two properties which are part of a stylish conversion of farm buildings located in a very central village location in the picturesque village of Crantock, on the north coast of Cornwall close to Crantock beach.

One bedroom cottage, ideal for a couple of any age or for a small family looking for less expensive but high quality accommodation. The bedroom has an enormously comfortable 6' bed with a separate day bed for a child under 12.

Crantock is an ideal family holiday venue with a short walk to the beach (no need to take the car), a village shop and tea rooms, two pubs and we are able to welcome up to 2 small dogs in Number 1.

3. CHANGE OVER DATE

The start date and end date of holidays (change over day) is fixed and cannot be changed. Short breaks can start on a different day but must start and end within the booking week. Please note we do not start holidays at any other date than the displayed start date.

4. REDUCED OCCUPANCY DISCOUNTS

From September to May cottages are charged at a base rate for the minimum number of guests as stated in the pricing tab. Additional guests may be added as shown in the pricing tab. Not available during Christmas, New Year and February Half Term.

5. SHORT BREAK DISCOUNTS

Short Breaks of 4 nights or less are between November and Easter, excluding school holidays, at a discount of 10% off the full week price. Not available during Christmas, New Year and February Half Term. Please note: we do not offer short break discounts at other times.

6. DOGS

In cottages where dogs are allowed, they are charged at £40 each. A refundable occupancy deposit may be payable on arrival to the Property Manager. We do not allow more than 2 dogs in any of our properties.

7. MINIMUM AGE

At least half of your party must be over 23 to book one of our cottages.

The property has been finished to an exceptional standard, including slate and oak flooring in the living areas. Entry is gained from the parking area via French doors which open into the light and airy kitchen/living room which is furnished with comfy seating, dining table & chairs, flat screen TV, DVD & HiFi. The hand built kitchen is solid oak with granite work surfaces and is fitted with stainless steel appliances and comes complete with all modern conveniences including the essential dishwasher. The shower room, on the ground floor, has slate flooring and a generously sized walk in shower. There is a large storage cupboard, ideal for storing coats and boots. Two chairs for guests outside seating are stored here.The fully fitted solid oak kitchen comes very well equipped with oven, ceramic hob, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The log burner provides an opportunity point to curl up after a day in the fresh air and complements the electric radiator heating system. A stair case leads up to the bedroom with its 6' super king bed which can also be configured as 2 x 3' singles. There is a day bed in the bedroom suitable for a child up to 10, and also room for a cot. The bedroom is in the eaves so there may be a height restriction, but if you are 6' or under, there should not be a problem. A Velux window in the bedroom (with blackout blind) allows natural light to flood in. A cot and high chair is available.

Number 1 does not have any outside space but it is an ideal base for individuals who love to be outdoors and want a cottage of luxury and fabulous finish to stay in. There is a common area across the road from Number 1 called The Round which can be utilised by guests. Dogs are not allowed in The Round which is owned and maintained by The National Trust. There are two folding chairs provided by the owners that can be used.

Crantock

Crantock is a picturesque village of historical note; on the North coast of Cornwall with one of the best beaches in the area. It has an ancient church, two pubs, tea rooms, an art gallery, gift shop and a village store.

It is only five miles from Newquay, but a world apart. It is popular with families in the summer and people who wish to surf, walk and enjoy all Cornwall has to offer all year round.

Crantock is the site of an altogether much older settlement - Langurroc, which means the 'dwelling of the monks'. The village gets its name from the Celtic Saint Caranog, who is also known as Carantoc. It is suggested that Crantock was founded by St.Carantacus in the 5th century, who was the son of a Welsh chieftain, and established his church. The present church is reputed to be built upon the same site.

Crantock Beach is a great beach for families and surfers alike. It has a wide sandy beach with sand dunes between the beach and the village. At low tide you can walk along the beach to West Pentire.

Polly Joke beach is the next beach around the coast going west. It has been described as one of the best beaches in Cornwall. It has to be walked to, making it less busy than other beaches in Summer.

Pubs and Eating:

Crantock has two pubs; the Cornishman and The Old Albion Inn, which are a short walk from the properties in Crantock Village. The Bowgie Inn, in West Pentire, is a short walk from Cormorant, Guillemot and Kittiwake. In Cubert, 2 miles from Crantock, the Smugglers Den, has a reputation for good food and wine.

There are many walks for dog owners near Crantock, including the South West Coastal Path, which passes by the village and can be reached on foot from all our cottages.

Newquay, shopping and a big supermarket:

There is a large Safeway supermarket about 5 minutes drive out of the village towards Newquay. Crantock is about 5 miles south of Newquay, which in the summer is a bustling holiday resort with shops, many clubs and pubs. There is a regular bus service to Newquay and taxis can be booked.

In Crantock there is a village store that provides many of a holiday maker's essential needs.
