The Old Cider Press was formerly one of several old farm buildings, now converted into a luxury holiday cottage offering self-catering accommodation for up to 4 people. Many of the barn's original features have been retained, such as the incredible A-frames that hold up the vaulted ceiling.
Located just a couple of miles from Crackington Haven on Cornwall's dramatic Atlantic coastline, The Old Cider Press is ideally located for exploring the coastal areas including Boscastle, Bude and Padstow. It's also a great base if you plan to travel to The Eden Project, Bodmin Moor or even the South Cornwall coastline.
The conversion from barn to luxury home has been carried out meticulously. The result is a fantastic relaxing and enjoyable environment. The large living area is spacious with large comfortable sofas to spread out on. The kitchen area is well equipped and includes a ceramic hob and electric fan assisted oven. There's also a microwave, fridge and dishwasher. A dining table separates the kitchen from the living area.
There is one double rooms (4'6"/1.35m bed) and one bunk-bed room (two single beds 3'/0.90m). The bathroom has a bath with power shower.
From the front door, step out onto your own private patio area and enjoy the views towards the coast. On a clear day you can see as far as the island of Lundy some 19 miles away. The Old Cider Press shares about 1 and a half acres of land with the other converted barns. There is plenty of space to relax and for children to play.
All bedding and towels are included. You'll enjoy those special little extras such as the welcome basket and complementary toiletries. There's even a computer with free Internet connection to help you plan your stay or just keep in touch with friends and family. There's a widescreen TV with digital channels and recorder, a DVD player and a small selection of discs, even a Playstation. A telephone is provided with a small call allowance.

The Old Cider Press is about a mile inland, but on a clear day has views out to sea - towards the Island of Lundy. Shared gardens extend to about an acre and include use of a shared tennis court, old apple orchard and small picturesque lake. Immediately outside The Old Cider Press, you'll find a small raised private patio area with a table and chairs.
On arrival, you will find a welcome basket to help you settle in and have a drink. The Old Cider Press is great for children of all ages, but we ask that parents do make themselves familiar with the grounds, especially around the lake. We operate a strictly non-smoking and no pets policy.
The Cornwall region
North Cornwall offers some of the most dramatic coastline in the country. Great for scenic walks at all times of the year. It also has access to some of the greatest beaches, suitable for just relaxing or for more adventurous activities such as surfing and kayaking.
This is also the perfect location for exploring much of what the rest of Cornwall has to offer including The Eden Project, Padstow, Rock - even Lands End and St. Ives.
Crackington Haven is a small undeveloped cove with a small, often very quiet beach.

"perfect, with some lovely touches"
This was a lovely find for a relaxing week away in North Cornwall. From the moment of first contact, I was impressed with the obvious enthusiam for the area displayed by the owners and the unerring professionalism with which our booking was handled. Overall I would heartily recommend the Old Cider Press, the location was a great balance between isolated and accessable, the amenities were top notch and the welcome package was a nice addition.

"A wonderful quiet stay in a lovely part of Cornwall"
The Old Cider Press cottage was a lovely converted farm building - the decoration was of a very high standard, beautifully furnished and very clean. The amenities within the cottage were excellent with many thoughtful touches (including a computer with internet access, board games, books and maps/guides of the area). We especially loved the welcome basket on arrival with local produce to get us started.
The outside facilities were also very good - with ample car parking, a tennis court and well laid out grounds. Although these were shared with a number of other cottages we were fortunate that they were not all occupied when we were there making it a very quiet stay although I could imagine it would be much noisier if all the other properties were occupied. The only downside was the access from the car park at the cottage was onto a fairly busy narrow road with poor visibility making leaving the car park a bit like russian roulette at times.
The location was also excellent - a short drive to nearby beaches (or a slightly more energetic walk down to Crackington Haven), close to Bodmin Moor and not far from the Eden Project which is well worth a visit. The cottage wouldn't suit people who were wanting to be close to restaurants/towns or wanted to have access to long sandy beaches but the location was perfect for the rugged Cornish coastline and small fishing villages down the coast (Padstow, Port Isaac etc).
The arrangements for booking etc were handled very efficiently and with a very friendly service.
All in all, it was a perfect stay.

"Great base for local area"
Very impressed with the accommodation, clean tidy and modern with all the home comforts (wifi, computer, printer, TV with games console).
Tennis courts were a bonus and were never too busy to get on.

"Perfect hideaway, amazing cottage, every need catered for!""
We spent our honeymoon here and returned for a second one! Everything was spotless, lots of extra special touches, like flowers, a card, wonderful hamper, we couldn't wish for anywhere better! A little country hideaway, but in ten minutes you are at the sea, lots of refreshing walks nearby, lots of fantastic places to go in magical Cornwall.
Five star and plus, all well organised, just enjoy!

"Stunning Cottage in beautiful location."
We have stayed at 'The Old Cider Press' 4 times now and every time has been well worth the trip. The cottage is kept to very high standards and is always very clean. A welcome hamper is left for you to enjoy and it is always so lovely to receive it when you arrive at the cottage. The cottage is spacious (on our last stay we took my mother/father and our 2 girls) we didn't feel over crowded at all. We will certainly be visiting many more times in the future. The location is gorgeous, just a few miles walk to Crackington with a couple of places to eat/drink once you get down there. People are always very friendly and make you feel welcome. We have got many happy memories from our visits to 'The Old Cider Press' and hope to create many more with our girls.
