The Isle of Wight region
The Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing break, at any time of the year. It is a stunning Island with unspoilt scenery and a wealth of fascinating attractions.
There are plenty of activities available including windsurfing, sailing, cycling and walking on some fantastic beaches. The ferry makes you feel like you are going on a real holiday and provides an excellent physical and mental break from the mainland.
Cowes is well known as the world's premier yachting centre and bustles with sailors from all over the world. Cowes is the Isle of Wight's main port with a natural harbour at the mouth of the River Medina. Cowes is a small town with a friendly, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The High Street is pedestrianised, allowing good access to shops, art galleries, maritime museums, restaurants, and pubs. Above Cowes High Street and overlooking the Solent is Northwood House and Park. This classical style mansion dates from 1837 and was given to the town in 1929, together with its 26 acres of grounds.
The grounds now provide public tennis courts, bowling greens, a putting green, and a children's playground.
