BookThe Isle of Wight region
The Isle of Wight is an ideal holiday destination offering beautiful landscapes, beaches and charming small villages. Made popular by Queen Victoria who had her maritime residence at Osborne close to Cowes, the Island is famous for sailing in the Solent, its beautiful coastline including sandy beaches, spectacular countryside and long sunshine hours.
Many people come to the Island for the spectacular coastal and country walks - the Island has a network of footpaths, many of them up on the Downs offering wonderful views. The West Coast (see panoramic shot) is particularly beautiful. The Isle of Wight Walking Festival with over 250 programmed walks and events for families runs from May 5th to the 20th. There are plenty of cosy pubs along the way offering appetising refreshments.
The Cowes / West Cowes area
Cowes is an interesting yachtsmans town with plenty going on both on the water and off. There are attractions such as Queen Victoria's Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle close at hand. There are many yacht racing events - the Round the Island Race with over 1,500 entries is a spectacular sight in June and Cowes is also famous for Cowes Week and the Powerboat festival in August.
There are many first rate cafes, bars, restaurants and shops along the pedestrianised high street in Cowes (there are particularly good clothes and shoe shops) and there are excellent transport links to Southampton's West Quay shopping centre and Portsmouth's Gunwharf Quays centre.
There are lovely beaches all over the Island - close at hand there is a beach right next door to the apartment which is mostly shingle and has a broad level promenade running alongside. Gurnard Bay which is just down the road is a sand and shingle beach which is perfect for gentle bathing. There are cafes on the promenade behind the beach and some watersports are offered including dinghy sailing and windsurfing.

Great location, very friendly and helpful in booking and on arrival. The flat does everything you would want it to - close to the centre, on the waterfront but still a quiet location. Reluctant to let too may people know about it! |

Our third visit to Grantham Court proved to be just as perfect as the preceeding two. Everything we could wish for had been provided and it's clear that very careful attention is given to the detail which make this appartment the one to judge others by. Spotlessly presented & perfectly equiped, Grantham provides a quiet reteat whilst being able to enjoy the views and action over the Solent whatever the weather. A pleasant, short walk to Cowes town centre works up just enouigh appetitie to enjoy the many cullinary delights this haven has to offer. Every care had been taken to ensure our visit was most enjoyable and the personal service touch of the owners was ever present, even down to being greeted on arrival. Very well done and much appreciated. Many thanks, we will certainly be returning, |
