The Isle of Wight region
The Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing break, at any time of the year. Each season has its own special charm. The long, hot days of summer attract hundreds of visitors to the coastal resorts to enjoy sailing or a traditional seaside holiday.
The island boasts 60 miles of spectacular coastline, with picturesque coves and beautiful bays of golden sand with safe bathing. You’ll be tempted to explore the countryside at all times of the year, following the many paths and trails that reveal the refreshing greens and golds of spring, the vibrant tints of autumn or the magically frosted pastel hues of a winter’s morning.
Aside from being an internationally renowned centre for sailing, the island offers countless opportunities to pursue every kind of sport activity. From fishing to golf and windsurfing to flying there is something for everyone.
This diamond-shaped isle is a treasure trove of historic and prehistoric interest. Dinosaurs, ancient tribes, Romans and monarchs throughout the ages have left behind a fascinating trail into the past. The island was once a frequent haunt of many eminent and historically important people, including Charles Dickens, Lewis Carroll, J M W Turner, Henry VIII and Queen Victoria.
The bustling port town of Cowes is situated by the mouth of the river Medina, and is divided into two distinct towns, linked by the regular floating bridge chain ferry.
Both communities have much to offer visitors, with Cowes known as a world famous yachting centre, with superb facilities for all kinds of water sports, as well as wealth of excellent restaurants, inns, and plenty of interesting shops. East Cowes is best known for Osbourne House, Queen Victoria's Italian style country retreat - a tour of the sumptuous royal apartments and magnificent gardens is a must.
Cowes is an ideal base for exploring the rest of the island, such as sandy beaches, lovely walking country, picturesque chines and many family attractions.

A group of friends and I were doing some sailing for a weekend and decided to have a couple of days in Cowes. This is a great cottage ideally located for both the sea and getting round the island. It has all the amenities and a fab balcony to sit and enjoy the river and late afternoon sun. Leanne made sure that we had everything we needed. We will definetly be going back.

"Deluxe Cottage in Perfect Location"
I don't often write reviews but was compelled to write one having had a lovely break at this cottage.
The property is exactly as described: well equipped (kitchen was very well stocked; bedroom had alarm clocks, side lights, and hair dryer), furnished to a modern and comfortable feel (the sofas were very comfy - and the double bed was so comfortable, that I took a note of the mattress and duvet set before leaving so I could purchase one similar). The bathroom has a huge bath and had a great soak in it one night. The cottage is nicely furnished throughout - there is nothing garish; and it wasn't old-fashioned at all. Being a single guy staying there I was looking for a sense of luxury and I found it.
I went there to relax and write and spent plenty of time on the balcony. Again, the description is correct. The scenery is stunning and watching the boats float past was very relaxing. The sunsets were amazing over the harbour.
The cottage is set in a small modern courtyard. One thing I thought was great was the house comes with off-road parking and felt safe. Perfect if you're bringing a car. It was also great for a lone traveller like me or a family not wanting to bring their vehicle. The cottage is literally two minutes walk away, the bus stop was a minute away, and the chain ferry to west cowes is a minute away. Great for exploring and loved that I didn't have to drag my luggage great lengths.
I never met Leanne, the owner, but she was always quick to reply, was friendly and helpful providing suggestions of good places to eat. There was tea and coffee (and biscuits!) waiting for me, which was a nice touch.
I would definitely stay there again, it was a relaxing break with all the mod cons that I needed.
