Discover this magical corner of Wales, a mixture of past and present, a diversity of coast and countryside sprinkled with ancient towns and legendary villages yet within easy reach of Cardiff, the vibrant capital of Wales. The historic town of Cowbridge, a fantastic place to eat and shop is just 3 miles away. The stunning 14 mile stretch of protected coastline, The Glamorgan Heritage Coast lies close by . The tidal range of the Bristol Channel is the second largest in the world. Lace up your walking boots and discover the coastal path, spectacular cliffs and rock formations that overlook secluded coves and bays. The sand dunes of Merthyr Mawr include one of the largest single dunes in Europe, parts of Lawrence of Arabia were filmed here.

Wales has more castles per square mile than any other country in Europe. Visit Cardiff Castle once used by the Romans and the Norman and restored in the 18th Century by the third Marquis of Bute, reputedly the wealthiest man in the world. He also restored the Fairytale Castel Coch (The Red Castle) and the giant fortress Caerphilly Castle surrounded by a huge moat. Some of our ancient sites such as the neolithic burial mounds at Tinkinswood and St. Lythans are older than Stonehenge.
