[1]What a fantastic welcome break. It's all about location, location, location, and what a beautiful location… A welcoming traditional Chateau steeped in history was the highlight of our weeklong break. The lovely grounds just cry out to be explored, the beautiful lake fed by a trickling stream and a nice stroll to Le-Lorey (Perfect) Finished off by the comfort of the Chateau with a traditional Log fire PERFECT… Well organised and a very informative Host was the perfect start to our break… Thank You So Much See you next year… John & Sue.

[3]>Not long returned from this wonderful place. My children had a great time. The restaurants by the beach were very good, and local towns have some interesting shops. We all feel really relaxed and only wish we could have stayed longer. It really was super to get them off their playstations!Recommended for: Age 55+/Adventure Seekers/Tourists/Sightseeing/Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children/ Romantic Getaway.Claire Sullivan.
[4]>We had a fab time at the chateau and found it perfect in every way. Quiet, peaceful, full of history and character, and totally safe for the children, who loved every minute of our stay. Wish we could have stayed longer. We all send you both our best wishes, and wish you the best of luck over the future of the Chateau.{copy and paste with permission of Ian Mather}.
[5]>After being on the market in St Lo where we had bought cheese, pate, bread, marmelade, wine, sausages etc etc we went home. Lit a lot of candles and had a wonderful afternoon and evening eating and drinking on your terrace. Our swedish friends (now living in Seattle) meant this afternoon was the best that summer.Angles [Norway]

In the middle ages there were 7 fiefdoms in the parishes of Le Lorey and Camprond all owing allegiance to Baron of Marigny.
Enguerrand of Comprond, Lord of the Manors of Lorey and Comprond took part in the 1st Crusade with Robert Shorthose,Duke of Normandy and son of William the Conqueror.
During the 100 years war, John, Robert, Richard and Enguerrand of Camprond submitted to the King of England, before, later taking part in the driving out of the English from Normandy. Hence keeping their Lordship of Le Lorey and Camprond.
In the 16th century, the Luzerne family succeeded the Camprond family and in the 17th Century Le Lorey and Camprond became two distinct fiefdoms. Le Lorey remained in the Luzerne family until 1710. This was the year Fraslin of Moncel,a privateer from Granville, recently enobled by King Louis XIV in return for financial aid, became Lord of Le Lorey until the French revolution.
In 1789 Le Lorey had 1200 habitants, who, subscribed to the revolutionary ideas and was the scene of several fights between the revolutionists and the Royalists.
The 'Croix de La Rucquetiere' was damaged in the revolution and restored in 1812.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Cross [ that is on cadestral plan with the Manor] bears the name of Zachariah Neel that was taken from the Manor and shot twice,he was obviously a Royalist. With all that in the past, the Cross also bears the emblem of the Camprond family,a flower with five petals.
Fast forward to World War 2. The Manoir and Le lorey was Liberated on 28th July 1944 during Operation Cobra, after intense tank and armed battles.
