Home description

Superb properties located in fishing village of Courtmacsherry.
The house has four bedrooms and sleeps up to eight people. The master bedroom is en suite. There are two twin rooms and a second double room. There is a main family bathroom and a downstairs WC.

The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with all modern conveniences including dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The utility is equipped with a washing machine and dryer.

The sitting room has an open fire and comes with a TV and VCR.

There is a large garden surrounding the property with plenty of play space for the children.

Close to beach, shops and local pubs, the house is situated in a village with many attractions for both adults and children.

Overlooking the inner bay the house is on an elevated site with great views.

Courtmacsherry Bay with its many beaches and walks is ideal for families and those who want to relax. The upper harbour under the famed and historical walls of Timoleague Abbey is a bird watchers paradise. Here the heron, wild ducks and cormorant feed in a sheltered environmentally friendly paradise.

The County Cork region

The picturesque village of Courtmacsherry lies midway between the old head of Kinsale and the Seven Heads on the rugged West Cork coast.

This charming village was formerly the summer home of the Earl of Shannon who planted many exotic trees, shrubs and woods around the village. The village of Courtmacsherry grew in Victorian times, as a haven for holidaymakers from the city of Cork and as a result several new houses were built.

In 1891 the railway arrived and was an important link to the outside world until its closure in 1961. The sheltered harbour, often giving a cosy sense of calm and security while storms wreck havoc outside.

In the early 18th century, the Coast Guard chased would-be smugglers along the coast from their sheltered haven in Courtmacsherry Bay. Their cottages still dominate the slope overlooking the harbour, still a favourite haunt of anglers and visitors, because of the exceptional flora and fauna of the area.

Much of the village life centres around the lifeboat service, with local voluntary crews ensuring that this historic lifeboat station, one of the first established in Ireland, maintains an active role in bringing safety and assistance to sailors in distress.

Today there is a vibrant community with several developments taking place to improved facilities such as the refurbished pier and pontoon for boats and yachts, the promenade and tennis court.

Booking Deposit
An immediate non-refundable booking deposit of �150 per property is required to secure booking. For holidays costing over �1500 a booking deposit of 10% is required. The balance of the payment is required not less than 6 weeks before arrival date.

Electricity
The charge for electricity is �5 per day in June, July & August and �8 per day for all other months.

Towels
Towels are available at most of our properties. Please check the symbols for facilities on individual properties for accurate information.

Cots & Highchairs
Cots and highchairs must be pre-ordered.

Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit of �100 must be paid to the supervisor/caretaker on arrival. The deposit will be refunded once the supervisor is satisfied that the terms and conditions of rental have been compiled with. It is expected that the homes be left in a clean & tidy condition on departing. All rubbish should be gathered and stored in suitable plastic bags. Failure to leave the accommodation in a clean and tidy condition may result in the loss of security deposit. When a rental is for longer than one week, cleaning of the house during rental must be requested from the on-site manager and a fee may apply.
