The Aquitaine region

Nestle in the south west the Lot-et-Garonne region has a climate of long hot summers and is famous as a growing region. The beautiful sunflowers, vines and plums which are turned into prunes, can be sampled locally.

La Grange is situated in a small rural village just outside the village of Tombeboeuf (3km) which has a hotel with renowned restaurant, general store which sells excellent local produce, bakery, butchers and pharmacy. There is also a really good 9 hole golf course “golf de barthe” where you can spend the afternoon with lessons available for the novice, 5mins drive away.

There are several local bastide towns of Eymet, Monflanquin, Penne d'Agenais and Pujols all very different and lovely places to visit.. not forgetting the superb less crowded chateaux's the region has to offer.

We have a selection of very good restaurants nearby serving food specialties of the region using fresh local produce menus available at fixed prices or a la carte, and for a real treat you could try the Mitchelin star restaurant .

Local wine regions of Duras, Bergerac and Buzet all offering tours and tasting.

Most guests enjoy the simple life and venture out to the local morning markets pick up some speciality for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool.

There is a fantastic swimming lake with a beach, pontoon and water activities which is about 20mins drive. This is a great day out like being at the seaside and has enough to entertain the whole family all day - you can fish there as well. There is another beach at the riverside town of Castlemoron-sur-Lot ( 10 minutes away) which has water activities, including canoes for hire and is also popular for fishing.

The abundance of activities close by means there is something for everybody including a children's petting farm, 15 minutes away, where you can feed the animals and make cheese. Horse riding is available 15mins drive away. We also have bikes available on site for the more energetic .

Canoeing is available on the many rivers, canals and lakes nearby.

If that's too strenuous you could hire a boat and follow Rick Stein's route from Marmande to Agen along the canal.

Park Wallaby is about 45mins away and offers thrill rides, etc, for all ages.

Tennis courts are available at Miramont lake which is about 15mins away.

Bergerac, Agen and Bordeaux are great cities to visit.

Fantastic night markets are not to be missed and are held at many of the local towns and villages during July and August . There you can try the local cuisine, soak up the ambiance, drink the wine and dance the night away with the local band in the market square. You will love it.

"Perfect location for an extended family gathering - everything you need for all ages to have a wonderful holiday"

Our second visit with our extended family (ages 62years to 7months) The house has everything, it is also wonderfully private surrounded by beautiful countryside and fields of sunflowers. The owners could not have been more kind an generous when one of the party was hospitalised in a medical emergency. We had a fabulous holiday and can't wait to go back.

"Fabulous, tranquil and amazing place."

Our group consisted of young children, adults and grandparents. A car is essential just to go to the local shop, there are a few supermarkets about twenty mins away, a few of us booked a cab prior to arriving and the service was fantastic..The owners Tina and Jason are on hand 24 hrs, we encountered a couple of problems, one of we had trouble with the oven, Tina supplied us with a portable one within a couple of hours, there was a problem with the shower again this was rectified asap. The barn is so child friendly, everything you could wish for to keep your children safe, stairgates, baby alarm, bed-guard but to name but a few, we had ample highchairs, changing mats, childrens plates, beakers and cutlery. The pool is fenced and gated also alarmed, we forgot about the alarm until a member of our family jumped in and it sounded, this was a great relief knowing that our children would be safe. We had a couple of dull and rainy days but this did not bother us as there is so much in the barn to keep you occupied, the games and toys for the children are plentiful, sauna, hot-tub, pool table and table tennis kept the adults busy, there were a lot of board games but we never had time to play. The barn is very spacious both downstairs and upstairs, the kitchen has everything you need for your holiday even down to tea-towels. The bedrooms are well equipped and ideal if you have a baby as the cot is in a room just off the bedroom, beds were really comfy and the bathrooms spotless and trendy. It was great having the big table inside also outside where we could all sit comfortably as a family. The garden outside is huge, and was nice to have the childrens play area, also bikes. It was great having Tina and Jason living near, they speak fluent french as do their children, my brother wanted to go fishing and Jason's son wrote him a note to give to the shopkeeper, they were all really helpful and we would like to thank you for a fantastic holiday and we are so jealous you live where you do, absolutley amazing.

"Can't wait to go back"

I stayed here for 2 weeks last September with some friends and had a wonderful time. I have to say that I couldn't fault the place, it was immaculate throughout. The heated swimming pool was amaz… More

"Wish I was there now!"

Stayed over the half term with family and had a brilliant time. It's in such a peaceful and pretty setting, spotlessly clean and beautifully presented - we'd have liked to move in on a permanent basis!

A car is essential which is a pity but in saying that there are so many facilities at the property and things to do that we had trouble tearing my nephews away on the odd days that we went out, in fact we had trouble tearing some of the grown-ups away too! Wished we'd booked a longer stay - we loved it and can't wait to go back!

Many thanks for your review, and we hope to see you next year

"Duck Tape holds TV together!"

Upon arrival, we felt that the house was not as clean as we would have expected. Lots of cobwebs and dust around and under furniture which hadn't been moved to clean under or around - e.g back of… More

Thank you for your recent review. We are sorry that you found your stay at La Grange unsatisfactory. Our guests usually tell us that the whole experience has been very satisfactory, so it is somewhat disappointing for us to receive a different response.
We will of course take on board everything you said but it probably is worth noting that as we reviewed your list it became apparent that none of the items have ever been bought to our attention before. We value the relationship we have with our guests and always try to ensure that they are happy during their stay.
We are a short walk away, 24 hours a day, which is rarely the case in France. We employ experienced staff who move in and prepare the building in preparation for the new guests and their work is constantly checked. We are happy to assist in any way we can with any aspect of our guests stay. Most guests will simply knock on our front door.
La Grange is of course located in open countryside with its rural environment which adds to its charm. The sheer size of the building obviously has a bearing on the acoustics, but guests usually see this as a plus.
Wi fi is the standard fastest open countryside speed that one would find in most rural areas. It is sufficient for normal holiday use and is provided by Orange. Following your TV suggestion, La Grange is now equipped with a flat screen TV.
Thank you for your closing comments, that overall you had a good holiday. May we take the opportunity to thank you for booking your holiday with us.

"A real treat for all the family"

We had a great two weeks at La Grange. It is ideal for a large group like ours. Thirteen of us , including three toddlers, were very comfortable. One of our party was a wheelchair user and whilst the property isn't really adapted it is accessible. The size and internal layout of the gite itself and the extensive outside space meant we were never tripping over each other. The children's play area was a real bonus and the pool is a good size. We know as we spent plenty of time in it! Having Tina and Jason next door was reassuring but we really were left to enjoy ourselves and they were on hand if needed.

Many thanks for your review, it was a pleasure having you.

"Perfect house for a group of friends with their families"

The pool is fantastic for children with alarm and lockable gate. The garden is huge with swings, trampolene and table tennis. The house itself is easily maintained with all that you would need for young children .. games, toys, monitors, high chairs, cots ... it's all there. Tina and Jason are there when you need them. There's loads to do in the surrounding area. We were 3 families and we all loved it.

Many thanks for your review we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

"A property for all ages - La Grange suited us all!"

From the start this was a good experience being provided with the most comprehensive information pack covering all aspects making it possible to plan ahead in an area we did not know. We were a mixed family group ranging from a 4year old to 75 but we were all able to enjoy the holiday. The children loved the heated pool, the toys and equipment and especially the vast space in which to run and play in safety. The adults also made use of the pool and also appreciated the English tv for the European football matches as well as all the outside furniture enabling a choice of sitting in the sun or shade. The meal provided by Tina on our first evening was excellent and set us off to a good start.

Pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found our information pack useful many thanks for your review

"What a Fantastic Venue for New Years Eve!"

We rented this property for New Years Eve with friends who also have children.
The place was fantastic, perfect for us and such an event. The kids had lots of room to play indoor and outside. I loved the open plan downstairs area as what ever anybody was doing you are all still interacting. The Pool Table was great for the big boys as well! Very Pretty bedrooms and a great sauna to relax in. Great real fire and although a big house it have a very homely feel.
New Years Day we had a wonderful walk out in the county to a local Windmill.
We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return, maybe in summer so we get to use the pool!
Thank you to the owners for creating such a perfect place!

Glad you enjoyed your new year and we could provide the venue.
