Accommodation in our spacious farmhouse comprises one large through sitting room, dining area and kitchen opening out onto a terrace with a marble topped table for all your outdoor meals. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms (2 x double and 1 x twin) sleeping 6 plus a cot and 2 bathrooms. The Master bedroom is particularly impressive, being 7m in height!
The terrace and gravelled boule court area fronting the property are shaded by mature lime, cherry and plane trees, providing welcome shade during the hot summer months. A hammock swings between two of them.

|Further details indoors|
'La Tuiliere' is a truly Provencal family farmhouse - very spacious with exposed beams, stone walls, terracotta tiles, fireplaces and wood-burners for the cooler winter days.
We want our guests to feel comfortably relaxed and 'at home' so provide family games and books but recognise that internet connection is increasingly vital for those taking working holidays or for googling information. We have wi-fi access and a local (English) friend and computer expert is available to help should you experience any problems.
|Further details outdoors|
The private swimming pool (12m x 6m) is alarmed and situated in a separate sun terrace. With steps into the 80cm shallow end descending to a depth of 2m, all ages and swimming abilities are catered for.
Our extensive grounds comprising grassy meadows, mature trees and wooded areas for older children to explore, make camps and play in means that there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy outdoor games together (table tennis table, bats and balls, badminton equipment etc provided in the garage) or relax on the sunloungers and deckchairs with a book or sketch pad.
A large vegetable plot was dug in the spring of 2010 and we are beginning to grow our own crops for both ourselves and you, our guests to pick and enjoy. 4 hens also joined us in the spring of 2012 providing free-range eggs.
The Provence region
The Var is an area of mixed woodland and rivers running through verdant green valleys planted with vineyards and olive groves. The landscape is punctuated by rocky escarpments and picturesque villages where you can while away the hours in small cafes, watch the locals play boules or wander round the provencial markets.
'La Tuiliere' near Cotignac is in the heart of the beautiful 'Provence verte' but only 1 - 2 hours drive away from the culturally rich and ancient historical cities of Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Marseilles and Nice. The Mediterranean coastline and beaches are also only an hour or two away. Drive 30 minutes north, and you will be on the shores of the magnificent Lac de Ste Croix and the entrance to the Gorges du Verdon, the self-styled 'Grand Canyon of Europe' .
LOCAL ACTIVITIES include:
WATER SPORTS head north (25 - 40 mins drive) to Quinson, Lac de Ste Croix and Esparron or south to the river Argens (20 - 30 mins drive) with water based activities near the villages of Carces and Correns.
EQUESTRIAN centres abound within a 30 minute drive
ROCK CLIMBERS from all over Europe head to the Vallon Sourn near Correns (20 minutes drive) to test their skills.
CYCLE HIRE is also possible from Carces (25 mins) as well as from outdoor activity centres.
And of course, WINE TASTING from the local vignerons or in the co-operatives to be found in most villages and small towns.
COTIGNAC (10 kms) is a picturesque village noted for the medieval houses and passageways leading off the main square and the troglodyte walkways on the 'back wall' of the village. It's main streets are full of cafes and restaurents.
PONTEVES (5km), our nearest village is friendly and well maintained. Perched on a hill-top there are spectacular panoramic views from the ruined chateau. The Petit Bessillon can be climbed (or walked around) from here.
BARJOLS (5km) formally the centre of a tanning industry, is a small town with supermarket, petrol stations, garages, banks and pharmacies as well as traditional small shops - and 28 fountains to track down!
SILLANS-LA-CASCADE (12km) has a lovely walk to an immense waterfall and pool.
SALERNES (18km) another attractive small town is a tile, ceramics and pottery centre and has a particularly good Sunday market.
AUPS (20km) is home to the Simon Segal modern art museum.
QUINSON (25km) which along with Lac de Ste Croix is a water sports centre, has the largest pre-history museum in Europe, designed by Sir Norman Foster.
ENTRECASTEAUX (25km) has a beautiful chateau - and an active cricket club!
LE THORONET ABBEY (30km) is one of the three great Cistercian monastries of Provence.

"Peaceful haven amidst beautiful countryside."
The property is stunning inside...although we spent much of our time when we were at the property sitting outside on the terrace! Huge old fireplaces and the peaceful simplicity of the traditional Provence farmhouse. The villages nearby were quaint and unspoilt. The flowers at this time of year were so pretty. We were surprised that the temperatures still drop considerably at night during April/May, but I can imagine that the coolness of the interior of the property must be wonderful in the hot summer. There was plenty to do, games to play, books to read.
We're so glad that you enjoyed your first trip to this beautiful and unspoilt part of Provence. Thank you for your kind and helpful comments. We hope that you'll come back soon. Having experienced the beauty of springtime perhaps you'd like to come in the summer or autumn to discover different villages and summer activities or autumn colours and landscapes.

We spent two wonderful weeks in this lovely spacious house and surrounding area. The house had all mod cons with the exception of a tv/DVD, but we didn't go on holidays to stay indoors. The pool was amazing, close to the house but just far enough to allow us a full badminton court and table tennis arena! Our dogs loved to roam which caused a few problems as the house is not fenced and, if your dog decided, it could make its way to the road. However the road is not busy just the usual fast drivers! If you have a well behaved dog then this will not concern you. Fresh eggs, a delightful treat as were the tomatoes and courgettes picked from the garden. First class fun had by all.
Thank you for your helpful and appreciative review. We're very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at La Tuiliere and made good use of all that we offer. Do come again! Incidentally, we've just had a lovely new kitchen fitted and will be uploading the photos onto our advert soon. Best wishes to you all.

"What a great find!"
We spent a fantastic week at this beautiful property in May 2013. The house had so much character and all of the rooms were incredibly spacious yet warm and cosy. It was great to have such a large, safe garden for our toddler and dogs to run around in and Gillian was a very welcoming and helpful host! The little extra touches like the fresh eggs each morning (which our daughter loved to collect straight from the chickens), log fire, free wifi, barbecue area and access to the impressive vegetable patch were also very much enjoyed. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return one day in the future
I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure to meet you and thank you for your appreciative comments. I hope that all goes well with you in your various family ventures and that we'll meet again.

"Perfect for a family holiday!"
This charming property is ideal for a family holiday. It is very private with plenty of outdoor space including a swimming pool and barbeque area. Lots of thoughtful touches including a comprehensive visitors pack, great selection of books & games, English adaptors and instructions for all equipment. The house, pool and gardens are very well maintained. We particularly enjoyed looking after the hens and collecting their delicious eggs! The property is in a beautiful area but very secluded - you wil need a car to get to the nearest village/restaurant. For those with the energy, the local area offers plenty of activities from horse riding to zip wires and the beaches of the Cote D'Azur are easily accessible - set out early to avoid the traffic though. We had a great holiday here with our two teenagers and look forward to returning!
Thank you. I'm so glad that La Tuiliere was the family farmhouse you hoped for and that you enjoyed the facilities and grounds in addition to discovering the wider area. I hope that we will indeed be welcoming you back!

"Lovely, Rustic, Relaxing"
We stayed with my family and the families of two friends. La Tuiliere suited us perfectly! All the kids loved the freedom they had (so much space). It was great having your own pool which you didn't have to fight over for space or sun loungers. The kitchen/dining room was well equiped and caused no issues for our party of 11, both for cooking and eating at, the same goes for out side dining, more than enough space and seats. Chickens proved a big hit with the kids and produced an impressive number of eggs which were free for us to eat Having wi-fi was also handy as we were away during the Olympics so we were able to check how teamGB was doing whilst we were away. It was nice to stay in a place with a bit of character and escape the blandness of some package holiday hotels/complexes. Also remote enough to be nice and quite, but close enought to places like Barjols, Tourtour and Aups for days out. Monaco wasn't an unreasonable distance away either, so was nice to go there and drive round the F1 circuit and a some what slower pace than I've seen on the tel. All in all a lovely holiday rental that we were sad to leave after a weeks stay (all that was available unfortunately as fully booked)
Thank you so much for your kind comments. I'm glad that your larger group found our grounds and facilities gave you enough space to spread out and enjoy your holiday together. I hope that you'll be able to come again.
