This is a lovely village house in the heart of a pitoresque village. The village has many restaurants and a lot to offer. The best part is that the house is in the middle of the village, protected by the other houses -and the street is very quiet. The house consists of a total of 5 floors. We have had the house for a few years and are renting it out for the first time from mid August.Hope you will like it!
1st floor . Has direct access to street level. Here we have a dining table and a sofa that converts into a double bed and a large closet . In this large closet there are towels, sheets , duvets , pillows and blankets . Furthermore, there is a new shower, a washing machine and a separate toilet and sink . This whole floor can be closed off - this allows guests to have this for themselves, for example if you are two generations on vacation. This room is Perfect for the ones who don't like the stairs.. The washing machine is brand new and is nicely hidden behind a cupboard.
The 2nd floor consists of kitchen and dining area with a large Provencal fireplace .
The long table seats up to eight people. From here one can see the flames in the fireplace or converse with the current Chef de Cuisine. The kitchen has kettle , coffee maker , stove and dishwasher . Our moto is "what you use you replace", so we allow coffee, tea, salt , pepper , herbs and other perishable food items to be available. Use it or buy new for yourself . Various cleaning supplies in the cupboard under the sink . Everything within crockery and cutlery is obviously in place .
3rd floor . Consists of master bedroom with den and attached bathroom . The den has a two story bed (IKEA).This is Perfect for example when you have children. There are even extra mattresses under the two story bed - if the children want to sleep as Close to mummy as possible or have invited friends to sleep over, etc. In the bathroom there is a shower , wash basin and toilet -all brand new (April 2014) At one point there is a low ceiling on the stairs between 3 and 4 floor, the house is almost 150years old and has been built in layers. Hence the stairs....
4 floor consists of one bedroom (single bed ) and living room . The living room has high ceilings and Velux Window , and in addition there is a built-in terrace . In the living room you can make the sofa into a double bed. There are two additional beds under the stairs. The terrace has much pleasure -you have a lovely mountain view (lit up in the evening) . The built-in terrace has a sink with hot and cold water as well as a fridge to keep the drinks cold.
The 5th floor consists of one bedroom with a sofa bed. Here wealso have an aircondition machine.
In addition : There is wireless internet and TV. Instructions for different electrical equipment located in a folder in the kitchen.

About this location
The Provence region
Provence is a well-known sunny region (le Var) in France. You have airports like Nice, Toulon and Marseille close by. The weather is often sunny and the temperature vary between 20 and 40 degrees, depending on season. It can get a little cold in the winter).
The village is 1,5 hours from either Marseille or Nice. For swimming - there are MANY possibilities (check out the book named "Wild Swimming France". The author is Daniel Start, a great travel guide book to France, for families and adventurers alike.)
The Riviera is 1 hour away by car (St.Maxime 1 hour, St. Raphael 1,5 hour) and the grand Canyon of France (les Gorges de Verdon) is only 30-45 minutes away (also by car). It is easy to choose based on your mood - up for a swim in a salty ocean or a clearblue lake? ;)
The village itself, Ctignac, has many restaurants, 3 bakeries and also quite many cosy shops. Quite many art shops, as well as art (paintings, sculptures, etc) and also quite many hand-made product. The village is excellent if you like taking walks, bicycling or running. Cotignac also has it's own monastery and many pilgrims (catholic) visit the city since the Virgin Mary has had an apparition here. Historically it was a place visitied by both kings and queens.
Furthermore the village is known for it's many fountains (that are all ove rthe village) and when you eneter the village you will the wall of an olf water-fall that dominates the village. It is now dry (the last 1000 years or so)- but very special to look at!

The photos do not do this justice, lovely town house, perfect location within cotignac. Rooms were very clean and tidy. I would recommend to anyone who has no mobility issues, as the stairs are pretty steep.
