About this location

The Canary Islands region

On Lanzarote, the easternmost of the Canary Islands, you can discover all the exoticism of the most amazing volcanic locations, where the hand of man has managed to blend art and nature, creating striking sites of enormous beauty. On many of them, Cesar Manrique, Lanzarote's most universal artist, left his indelible fingerprint converting deserts of lava into true oases of rock, water and tropical vegetation. Proof of this is 'Jameos del Agua', an intricate labyrinth of caves and volcanic tubes, a true paradise for the senses, housing an area for leisure and culture. Here you can enjoy live music and dance in a setting which is a spectacle in itself.

The island, which was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993, has become a point of reference for the world in natural architecture, and how tradition and modernity can be blended and united to give the best of themselves.

Getting to know Lanzarote is an unforgettable experience. Take the Ruta de los Volcanes in the Timanfaya National Park and explore every corner of this fabulous island on foot, horseback or by bike along its attractive footpaths. Just as striking is the group of little islands known as the 'Chinijo Archipelago', an exceptional natural park made up of La Graciosa, Alegranza and Montaña Clara, together with Roque del Este and Roque del Oeste.

The island's beaches will captivate you with their crystal-clear waters. Some have sand that is dazzling white while others are of dark volcanic sand; some are calm and relaxing while others feature powerful waves, ideal for such sports as surfing or windsurfing. Beneath the sea surface, the volcanic forms house an interesting and colourful marine fauna, which is greatly appreciated by divers.

On Lanzarote, you will spend days that are unique and intense nights: big-game fishing, days playing golf next to the sea, a unique cuisine and leisure, art and cultural centres.

Costa Teguise

Situated on the coast in the central part of the island, Costa Teguise is one of Lanzarote’s main tourist resorts.

It is only a 20 minute drive from Arrecife Airport and is a convenient place from which to explore the islands tourist and cultural attractions, as well as the northern fishing villages of Arrieta and Orzola.

The island’s historic capital of Teguise is a 10 to 15 minute drive away and provides a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Costa Teguise, unless of course you go on a Sunday, when the market is in full swing.

As with the rest of the island of Lanzarote, the Costa Teguise weather is usually very good all year roundAlthough many of the activities revolve around the beach, with windsurfing in particular being very well catered for, there is much else to do in and around Costa Teguise.

The only Waterpark on the Island is Costa Teguise which provides a wide variety of water attractions and fun for all the family.

Costa Teguise is well served for beaches with some fine golden sand. As for the other resorts, the beaches are very clean and well looked after. Many of the hotels in Costa Teguise have direct access to the beach.

Costa Teguise is well situated to explore the many tourist attractions in the North of Lanzarote, such as the Cueva de los Verdes, Jameos del Agua and the Jardin de Cactus.

Windsurfing is a major pastime in Costa Teguise with visitors and residents alike. There are windsurfing schools, shops and equipment rental companies clustered around the beach at Las Cucharas. Most levels of experience are catered for, from Absolute beginners upwards.

Cycling and running are also quite widely enjoyed for the more energetic amongst us, the balmy climate and safe roads making for a very pleasant experience.

Costa Teguise currently has the only golf course on the island so this is where you need to head for eighteen holes in the sun all year round.

"Great location"

Very spacious villa on sunny side of Plaza Amarilla on the Sands Beach resort complex. Well equipped, with lots of "extras" like heaters and fans. Only thing to be aware of is that, if you… More

"Excellent choice for Costa Teguise"

We chose this accomodation as there seemed to be a lot going on around the complex, and the resort is very well maintained. We very much liked costa teguise and it is a lovely walk along the sea to the huge selection of bars and restaurants
The prices are very reasonable due to the competition, (1.20 to 2 euros for a pint or lager)' and the restaurants were of a good standard.
As far as the accommodation is concerned, we were pleasantly surprised. The layout is perfect with large bathroom suites attached to both double bedrooms, 1 upstairs and one downstairs, each with sunken bath and shower. We liked the kitchen breakfast bar, and there are all the utensils that you could want.
The patio area looking onto the pool is a real sun trap, being in the sun from about 10am all day, and very sheltered from the wind, as the last 2 days were very windy.
Wi-fi is available with a fee of 25 euros a week, but the signal is a bit sporadic, and drops off regularly, but that is a resort problem, nothing to do with the property.
A minor criticism is the we found the mattress a bit thin and a bit uncomfortable, but that is a personal thing, and I would not hesitate in recommending this rental property.

"Very good accommodation in a great resort - Something for everybody!"

Sands Beach is a great location, with plenty for everyone. Some of us preferred the lazing by the pool option, while others could join in the activities down at the Mai Tai bar and pool. Villa 14 is well equipped, clean and spacious and any little problems very quickly resolved by the property management people - ie we couldnt get the DVD to play when we first arrived, and this was very quickly fixed - i think they swapped the machine but can't be sure as we were by the pool at the time. We know Costa Teguise quite well, so already knew that bars, restaurants etc were within an easy walking distance, but discovered some we'd never been to before nearer to the accommodation. I have stayed at several different complexes in Costa Teguise, but Sands Beach would definitely be one for a return visit - its definitely the best in terms of variety of facilities, entertainment, location, etc. We only used the onsite restaurant once, and although not Cordon Bleu standard, it was great value for 15 euro a head, all you can eat buffet. We even enjoyed the evening entertainment in the main bar - and that sort of thing really isn't my cup of tea really - again there was something for everyone. Can't complain about anything at all really. Will keep your e-mail address Walter, and hopefully be in touch soon for a return trip.

Best regards, Eleanor
