The Canary Islands region
Lanzarote is the closest of the Canary islands to the east coast of Africa. The temperature has a yearly average of 22 degrees, the summer months can easily reach the nineties and in winter the daytime temperature rarely drops below a very pleasant 70 degrees. This makes Lanzarote a great place to visit at any time of the year, and being an island there is always a pleasant sea breeze to keep you cool.
The islands architecture has been strongly influenced by the renowned artist Ceasar Manrique who designed many of the local places of interest which are well worth a visit, these include Mirador, Jameos Del Agua and the Cactus Gardens. It was also due to his input that there is a restriction on the building of high rise hotels and buildings with the one exception of the Grand Hotel in Arrecife which does seem to blend into the horizon.
Although a car is recommended to enjoy the island, local buses will take you to the nearby coastal areas of Puerto Del Carmen with a 2 mile 'strip' of bars, restaurants and shops as well as the Old Town with it's quaint port, streets, tapas bars and bodega's. Arrecife the Capital with a long golden beach and pedestrianised streets to help navigate a path to the shops and stores. Also Puerto Calero with a harbour full of yachts and cruisers that you can only dream of owning, with architectural charm reminicent of the old West Indies it's well worth a visit to sit and sip a cocktail.
Further afield is Playa Blanca which boasts fabulous beaches and a port where you can hop on a ferry to visit the island of Fuertaventura if your feeling adventurous.
There are so many places which are well worth a visit such as the National Park or the old town of Teguise where you can really grab a bargain at the Sunday market however, there is an information pack in the house which will help you decide just how YOU want to spend your time, there really is something to suit everyone, on this very special island.
In the local area there is so much to do, the water park is just around the corner and delights the kids and adults alike. For the golfers, the only golf club on the island is a few minutes by car and the clubhouse has a great bar and restaurant, think of playing a round in the December sunshine and you'll soon get the picture!
Costa Teguise is a laid back area and has some lovely bars, restaurants and shops, you can stroll into the centre in 25 minutes and there are plenty of places to stop along the way, it can also be accessed via the promenade which takes you past King Carlos' summer villa, he really is a neighbour!
If you fancy a taxi back from town, it's never more than 4 euros, bargain.
Should you feel the need for some pampering the Beatriz Hotel has a fabulous Thalasso Spa and pool to relax and chill out. For those with more energy, the central beaches have dive schools and windsurfing rental/lessons if you fancy a challenge, again details for all this can be found in the information book.
The complex of El Palmeral is beautiful, there are a team of gardeners who keep the open areas in tip top condition and the pools are cleaned throughout the day. The area is made up of residential and rental properties so has a relaxed and homely atmosphere. There are 275 properties which include villas, houses and apartments all in pristine condition.
We think our house is lovely and will provide a home from home experience, bring your toothbrush and beach towels and you are all set to go!

"Fully equipped holiday home"
We spent a lovely 10 days at Christines house, the location is great, although we did find that with 2 young kids aged 6 & 2 the main town was a bit too far for them to walk. The local beach would be walkable for most, clear and shallow for little ones. We hired a car and travelled all over the island with ease. The property is really close to both the play park and pool area, which is cleaned daily so not far to lug towels and blow up rings, which incidentally are all provided which was a great help when it came to packing. This was also helped by the fact that there is a washing machine, which we utilised during our stay hugely reducing the piles of washing on our return to blighty.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I try to leave things that I hope are useful, like the pool toys and beach towels as I know space and weight are at a premium in holiday luggage nowadays! I am delighted you enjoyed your stay

"Fantastic home frrom home"
A very nice relaxing holiday with everything you need, and more. House very well furnished and equipped, very close to the pool which pleased Chloe our 9 year old. With the Spar shop so close, made getting fresh fish easy. Some nice restaurants a bit of a walk away, but, nice to walk along the seafront to get to them. House very clean, loads of clean towels and sheets, thanks to Steve and Jo. Also great to have beach towels too. We would recommend this house to anyone wishing to have a nice relaxing holiday.
Thanks so much for the lovely feedback it is so important that our guests enjoy their holiday and relax in our house. Thanks for taking the time to send in your feedback, welcome back again anytime x
