The Lanzarote region
Lanzarote has the most consistent climate of all the Canary Islands, with stable temperatures throughout the year, averaging 17ºC (63º F) in January/February and 24º C (75º F) in summer time. The whole of the Canary Islands are volcanic, but it is in Lanzarote that the most recent volcanic history is evident and accessible. A visit to Timanfaya National Park located in the south of the island is a must.
Lanzarote is also a unique example of how one single man can have so much influence on its aspect that one can say César Manrique ‘sculpted’ Lanzarote! Lanzarote’s greatest and internationally renowned son, left his genius signature everywhere on the island… as sculptor, painter, architect and environmentalist. It is also largely his responsibility that tourism on Lanzarote developed within certain aesthetic guidelines and above all without spoiling the island’s landscape heritage, customs and traditions.
Costa Teguise / Vistas Atlantico area
Costa Teguise is a fantastic holiday resort for guests of all ages. It is built on flat ground and is therefore a preferred choice for families. There are several adjoining golden sandy beaches, all of which are safe for bathing and swimming.
Las Cucharas is the largest of the beaches in Costa Teguise at 640 metres long. It is protected by reefs and is of fine toasted sand and calm waters. It is a favourite for wind surfers with tuition available for all levels. Windsurf equipment hire and repair is available locally. There are changing room facilities available with showers and toilets. The Sea front promenade connects all of the beaches of Costa Teguise and has a selection of cafes, bars and shops along its length. There is a cycle track along here too with bike hire available. Villa Clara is very close to the Water Park, a great fun centre for all the family, and the villa is a few minutes drive to the islands only golf course - (18 holes; Par:72)
In the centre of the resort is situated the old square of Pueblo Marinero. There are three connecting pedestrian squares where you will find some great bars, shops and restaurants. Typical of the diversity in Costa Teguise you will find here a couple of typical Canarian tapas bars, a German pastry shop and café, an excellent Swiss restaurant, an Irish live music bar, Carvery, cocktail bar and grill to name a few. Pueblo Marinero is also the venue for the Friday night local craft market of Costa Teguise. It is held between 6pm and 10pm and has a lively mix of stalls.
Costa Teguise offers a number of lively bars with live entertainment and night clubs all in close proximity to the town centre. Within the centre there is a bowling alley and several amusement centres.
How to get there
