The Sardinia region

Sardinia, is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean, characterised by a jagged and rocky coastline, interspersed with marvellous beaches of very fine sand. Sardinia is a very ancient island rich in history and legends and everywhere there are traces of human settlements dated from the Bronze Age , the best known being the Nuraghi – circular stone dwelling left by an otherwise unknown people.

Sardinians loves their traditions and no matter where are on the island, or the time of year, you’ll likely find a colourful celebration. Sardinia folk culture is expressed in dance, handcrafts and native dress. Every village has its own typical costume.

Even the vines tell a story of Sardinia. Native red varietals are cannonau, monica, (of possible Moorish descent) and carignano. Cannonau is the most famous and is made by a grape introduced in the 13th century by the Spaniards. White varietals are vermentino(of Spanish descent).

The mild climate, the limestone terrain, the sea air and the wind contribute to make the wine of this land one of the best in the world.

Sardinian cuisine is exquisite essentially in its simplicity, made from genuine ingredients and essential flavours based on products from the land and the sea , characterised by roasted meets and fresh seafood. Even those visitors with most demanding palates will be spoilt for choice.

The climate allows to have a very long summer season, from April to November, with very mild winters. The heat of summer is refreshed by the frequent Mistral wind.

Guestbook for Costa degli Ulivi

Review Submitted: August 21, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My husband, little daugther (age 2) and I did spent two wonderful weeks in this beautiful apartment with stunning seaview in May 2009. Our very friendly and kind landlord Angela did arrange everything for us, bought a baby cod for us, arranged some fruit, wine and other drinks and milk for our little daughter upon our arrival and made our stay more than pleasant. It is an absolutely romantic getaway and we loved our cosy and beautiful apartment so much that we will return next year.
Angela is a wonderful and very friendly landlord and we are more than happy that we "found" her and her apartment.
