About the home
IL RUSTICO is on the ground floor and has an outside seating area with barbeque available and LA PAGLIA is on the first floor with two balconies where you can enjoy al fresco lunches or a glass of wine while watching the sun go down.
There is an open plan living room/kitchen and dining area, with two comfortable sofas, (one of which can be converted into a double bed if required) and a dining table.
The kitchen is well equipped with a gas hob & oven, kettle, Italian coffee maker and a fridge/freezer. A basic larder awaits you with tea, coffee, sugar, condiments, herbs, stock cubes, vinegar and oil. For an additional cost we can also arrange for a selection of local wines to be available for you on your arrival.
The bedroom overlooks the valley and has a double bed (two twins available on request) and there is a good-sized shower room. All bed linen and towels are provided.

The North West Italy / Piedmont/Lake Maggiore region
Piedmont is famous both for it ski resorts and for its winemaking region. Cascina Ciapolin is situated in the rolling hills of the Langhe region, home to the some of the best wines in Italy. Alba is nearby and in October/November hosts the prestigious white truffle fair. The region is a food and winelovers paradise with villages such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Mango and Neive where you can sample both excellent wines and high quality local produce. In fact the nearby town of Bra is the birthplace of the Slow Food movement, and hosts 'Cheese', every two years.
Further afield, you can visit the regional capital of Turin which is also host to this years' 150 year anniversary of the creation of Italy.
The Cossano Belbo area
Cossano Belbo is a small village in the famous Langhe winemaking region of Piedmont. It has all the facilities you could need. The two general stores are a good standby for food and there is an excellent bakery. Just outside the village, Carne Valle Belbo is the butcher that supplies all the top restaurants in the area. Not only that, we are lucky enough to have 4 good restaurants in the village!
10 minutes away is the town of Santo Stefano Belbo, famous as the birthplace of Italian author Cesare Pavese. There are several good bars and restaurants as well as a couple of supermarkets.
The larger towns of Alba, Asti, Canelli and Acqui Terme are all within a 35 minute drive and the airports of Genoa and Turin are both in easy reach.
Throughout the summer there are village festivals celebrating wines such as Barolo, Barbaresco, nebbiolo, dolcetto, moscato and many more. As always these go hand in hand with local specialities such as salame, bollito, tajarin, nuts, cheeses and the famous white truffle.
