The Island of Malta region

Malta's friendly personality is not a myth or a hard sell slogan - but a way of life. Ebulient and typically Mediterranean, Maltese are always ready to give a helping hand - to become friends and open up their homes to whoever befriends them.
Malta's mild winters are renowned with a no frost or snow and no endless rainy days. Summer climate is very sunny and there is more than 12 hour light day in summer which extends well into October.
Swimming is safe and highly enjoyable as are boat rides and any type of water sports. Walking holidays are ideal in winter since it rarely rains and the terrain is far greener then.
Malta enjoys a rich cultural and social life and there is no place better to enjoy it than the Three Cities. Summer is great to enjoy outdoor life - al fresco dining - either in restaurants or bbq's on roof terraces or near beaches. Promenades along the beach front are a great meeting place, and ideal to have a stroll or a drink of the local Cisk Beer. It is also not unusual for families to congregate in front of their doorsteps and to chat away especially in side streets and villages.
Valletta, the Capital is busy with retail outlets and hectic during the day, but quiet at night - however it is still full of restaurants open evenings both in summer and winter.
The clubbing area is Paceville and St Julians - and pubs, clubs and many restaurants are all concentrated around these areas - however larger clubs like Gian Pula and Numero Uno are both in the central part of the Island - close to Zebbug Area.
If interested in history, Malta is definitely the place for you. Mnajdra Temples at Hagar Qim and Ggantija Gozo (oldest free standing structures in the world) are about 3500BC and older than the Pyramids and Stonehenge but a few thousand years.
Mdina - the silent City is a definite Must See as is Vittoriosa and Valletta - all Cities being World Heritage Cities.
A trip to the Island of Gozo can be done by ferry crossing from Circkewwa at the North of the Island.
The Cospicua area
Cospicua is also known as Bormal by the locals (Lord's Meadow) and is the largest of the 3 cities.
Cospicua, is a city perfectly set to take you back in time. Set aginst the inland sea, previously used as Docks, it is the hub of continuous activity in the morning but slumbers tranquilly in the afternoon and evening.
When the Knights arrived in Malta in 1530 they made Vittoriosa their home and started building auberges and defences. The protected natural harbour made it a perfect haven for their ships and galleons. By 1550 Senglea had been fortified and Cospicua which is within walking distance was a booming market town.
It was from this maritime towns that the Knights defended Malta from the maraundry Turks during the Great Siege of 1565. Had the outcome of this Siege - which had lasted for months and saw the loss of many lives - been different - then possibly Malta and other neighbouring countries would have had a different culture today.
Guests interested in this part of history are recommended to read the book called the Sword and the Scimitar.
In the area, it is a must visit, to go to Fort St Angelo - the only Fort which the Turkish Battalion in 1565 managed to occupy for a few days, The Palace of The Spanish Inquistor, A super yatch Marina, Casino, and many restaurants. A visit to Del Borgo Restaurant promises traditional local dishes in Mediterranean fusion.
On the other side of the creek is Basilica dedicated to Christ the Redeemer where many miracles are said to have happened. Other notable churches in the area, are the Immaculate Conception Church in Cospicua, and Kalkara Church.
The property is situated close to the innovative Development of SMART CITY and there are two leading colleges for anyone looking for long term leases and education for children.
Finally Fort Rinella and the Mediterranean Film Facility where famed films like Troy have been filmed is again within walking distance

Guestbook for 17th Century Town House
We have visited Malta from the 5th of August till the 16th of August.
We had a wonderful holiday. Not only because of the terrific weather in Malta but also because of the great accommodation which we rented from Mariella Scerri.
This 400 years old townhouse was just perfect! Mariella did a great job renewing the whole house! The styling is wonderful, all the paintings, the stone, I don’t have enough words to describe how much we enjoyed the house. Mariella thought of everything that will give you peace and satisfaction on your holiday. The house also gives you a lot of privacy, which you can not get in a hotel. The sleeping rooms are just beautiful; the beds sleep very very well. We slept in the romantic room, which I call so because of the canopy bed! Oh it was so nice.
All rooms have air-conditioning which is a must if you visit Malta in August, the hottest month of the year and their own bathroom. So much luxury!
We prepared our own meals a few times in the very modern kitchen. The house has a lot of stairs, which we didn’t find a problem, as Mariella also thought of an elevator in the house. We used both the stairs and the elevator.
The house is also provided with WiFi Internet!! Just great really great!
The location of the townhouse is perfect; you have restaurants on a 5 minute walk, a truck selling fruit and veggies every day and a truck selling bread every morning! The view from the terraces is so nice! You can see the harbour and all the houses, gives you peace!
We were very blessed with this house, whiHch gave us such a good vacation. Not to forget the owner Mariella. Her kindness and hospitality gives you an impression of how the people in Malta are! She is a very very special person. Need I say more? Even our daughter of 14 years old enjoyed every minute of her holiday, mostly the Jacuzzi on the top floor and the terrace on the top. We had a terrific vacation on Malta thanks to Mariella and her beautiful townhouse in Cospicua. We will be back soon definitely!.

Dear Mariella
The townhouse is just amazing Louis said I feel like a king staying in this house. It’s so charming we are in heaven we love everything about it.
It’s so spacious and beautifully decorated with everything you need. It’s so modern inside an exquisite setting and the views are breath-taking.
The guns and fireworks have been going off this morning and Louis is certain we are in the part of a castle. Quiet Magical.
I have spoken to Pat who sounds lovely and has been very helpful and hope to speak to her later today.
Will keep in contact with where we end up and thanks again for the lovely stay we adore it here. Somehow thought we would.

Dear Mariella
Just to thank you for a wonderful time at the Palazzino. We absolutely loved it and are very grateful to Pat for her patience in sorting out our credit cards which we managed to leave behind on our way to Gozo!
We managed well with the buses and really enjoyed using them to get about – not having had experience of the old system I can’t compare, but we found them very easy to use with a bus stop virtually outside the front door and appreciated the excellent air conditioning on board.
Many thanks for all your help
Best wishes
