The Tuscany region
Tuscany is a beautiful region, famous for its art, history and culture, as well as its natural beauty.
Lake Trasimeno, where Hannibal defeated the Romans, and where there are several beaches, is only a ten minute drive from "Vecchio Frantoio".
Perugia is only 45 minutes away, with Rome and Pisa a two hour drive and Florence only 1 hour away.
Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza, Assisi, Orvieto, Gubbio, Deruta, Montalcino, San Gimignano, and many other places of interest in both Tuscany and Umbria are worth a visit.
Cortona area
The beautiful and famous medieval hilltop town of Cortona is only a five minute drive from the apartment. Cortona's medieval streets are pleasant to wander and you'll be rewarded with fabulous views of the countryside along the medieval town walls. There is a museum here, as well as many bars, restaurants, banks, etc. There is also a theatre, where, during the Summer months there are wonderful outdoor functions.
