About the home

Villa Bellavista is a beautiful and stunning, traditionally built Tuscan farmhouse, restored to a high standard using original materials and retaining many features. This stunning property consists of a main villa and large guest house. The main villa has 5 spacious bedrooms, tastefully furnished to create a relaxing atmosphere, whilst the guest house has 4 spacious and airy bedrooms.

Both the main house and guest house have wireless internet.

Set in two and a half acres of grounds, the villa has a 50 ft swimming pool, with pool house and wc, as well as plenty of grassed areas, making it perfect for families with children.

A long gravelled white road leads to the front gates of Villa Bellavista and on to the pretty courtyard, with an ancient olive tree in the centre.

The villa has five bedrooms, all with ensuite bath rooms/shower rooms. On the ground floor there is an open plan living area with fireplace, with tv room and separate dining room. The modern fitted kitchen is fully equipped and has a centre aisle with table and chairs for dining at one end. There is a downstairs wc. . All downstairs rooms are spacious and bright, each with double opening doors directly out to the gardens. There is a large chestnut pergola for outdoor dining, with access directly from the kitchen areas.

In the guest annex you will find a spacious open plan living & dining room, and four bedrooms - two with ensuite shower rooms and two which share a shower room. The kitchen has all modern facilities and is easy to work in, again with a centre aisle. There is a log fire in the living room, and a large pergola with tables and chairs leading directly from the kitchen, making it ideal for long relaxing meals "al fresco", with beautiful views of hills, and Montepulciano in the distance

The whole property has central heating, and there are mosquito nets to windows.

Linen and towels, including pool towels for each guest are included and changed on Saturdays. Maid cleaning is provided twice a week. Additional cleaning is available for a reasonable local charge.

There is an ideal mix of open spaces and seclusion, whilst being just minutes from the A1 motorway, linking Rome/Pisa, Perugia and Florence.

The Tuscany / Arezzo Province region

Cortona is the oldest Etruscan hilltop town in Tuscany. Lake Trasimeno is only a fifteen minute drive away and offers watersports, beaches, boat trips to the islands,, and is also where Hannibal defeated the Romans.

The whole area of both Tuscany and Umbria offers a wealth of art, history and culture. Places to visit are endless, including Arezzo, Orvieto, Siena, Perugia, Montepulciano,Pienza, Deruta, Gubbio, San Gimignano, Assisi, and so much more. Florence is one hour away and Pisa and Rome are two hours away.

Traditions are an important part of Italian life and all the towns and villages remain proud of their own special traditions. There are palios and festas which go on during the Summer not far away.

The Cortona area

Cortona is a beautiful town and is reached by a winding road through olive groves. The uninterrupted views from Cortona are breathtaking. The famous Signorelli theatre in Piazza Signorelli has open air concerts during the Summer months.

The annual "Sagra della Bistecca" also takes place in August, where you can enjoy eating barbecued steak with other food and wine, and where people come from all over Italy, and other countries, to join in.

Lake Trasimeno has various festivals and concerts in the various town around the lake during the Summer months.

Famous for antigues, Arezzo holds a monthly antique market - on the first Sunday of each month plus the preceding Saturday.

There are endless festivals in other nearby towns which go on throughout the Summer, and offer fun and enjoyment to everyone.

Mont Amiata is a Winter ski resort and is only a one and a half hour drive away.

For those who want to treat themselves and love to shop, there are the designer outlets which are within easy travel distance.

Cheap flights available from Ryanair to Perugia airport - 68 kms (30 minute dual carriageway drive) or Pisa airport - 220 kms(2 hr motorway drive).

Cheap flights available from Easyjet to Rome airport - 220 kms (2 hr motorway drive)
Meridiana fly to Florence airport - 91 kms (1 hr motorway drive).

Other airlines such as British Airways fly to these airports too.

The mainline railway station of Cortona (Camucia) is a three minute drive from us and is a 1 hr journey from Florence and 2 hour journey from Rome.

We can also arrange cooked evenings meals, cooking classes, Italian Lessons, Wine Tastings and various other cultural activities. These should be booked in advance, to avoid disappointment, and paid for on arrival.
