The 500 years old stone built house, listed by the Italian Fine Arts Ministry, is situated at the end of a private road. It enjoys a 360 degree panorama of unspoiled hills,and dominates a valley of olive-groves. The guest apartment offers everything you need for your comfort, and consists of a large living-room with a kitchen corner and two sofa-beds, a double bedroom, a large bathroom, and a small sitting-room.
Each room opens directly onto or overlooks the gardens .... Nestled among nature, with no traffic passing by , the peace and silence here are only disturbed by song-birds ....Concerts, operas, and food and wine-tasting take place in Cortona, a medieval and Renaissance town rich in Architecture and museums ....A car is essential to visit the area as public transport is poor locally .

The Tuscany region
Cortona is situated between Arezzo and Perugia, the area of the ancient Etruscan civilisation .... A museum of Etruscan Art and tombs are a remarquable testimony of the local history and the Renaissance period with the architecture of the palaces and paintings in Churches and museums when the Medici owned Cortona are a visual trace of the elegant past of Cortona .... Arezzo, half-an-hour away, Perugia, 40 minutes away and Lake Trasimeno where the Battles of Hanibal took place, 25 minutes away are other interesting places for their rich history and Art ....
there is a new private pool at the top fo the road, which has a reasonable entrance fee and a restaurant and bar.

Cortona offers open-air operas in the Summer, classical concerts in churches and in the local theater , jazz-festivals , wine and food tasting , medieval plays and lots of pizzerias and restaurants with terraces offer Tuscan specialties .... Alike other medieval towns in Tuscany , roads tend to be steep , so walking to discover is the best way , for young people keen on mountainbykes, the area is ideal ....Swimming in the new splendid swimming-pool with bar and restaurant five minutes away from us, by the tennis-courts with modest charges is another activity .... Montepulciano, the wine-tasting and cheeses area as well as Chianti , one to two hours away on lovely country-roads , another excursion and hot-baths in the area by car ....Florence is one hour away by train and Rome circa two hours with good train-service from our station Camucia, ten minutes from us ....
How to get there
To get to Cortona, the cheapest low-cost airlines are Ryan-airways and Easy-jet , to Rome, Pisa and Perugia.... In the Summer they may fly to Florence ....
You should rent a car via-internet to pick-up at the airport of your choice, cheaper .... Florence Airport is 1hour and 30 minutes circa .... Pisa is 2 hours and 30 minutes as well as Rome .... Perugia is 40 minutes away ....

Dear Marie-Claire, You certainly were not exaggerating when you described 'La Torre Dei Venti' as 'this small corner of Paradise.....' It will be a long time before the memory of the stunning view fades , as will the sound of bird-song in the early morning, and the sight of the wild-flowers along the track ....Sheer bliss .... But what really made this a memorable holiday, was the wonderful welcome we received , the superb meals, and the lengths you went to , to make sure we were comfortable ....We feel privileged to have shared your lovely house for a fortnight , and hope to return as soon as we may.
