I Girasoli is a restored farmhouse with studio annex which has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, two kitchens, solar heated pool with diving board, roman walk in steps and sunbeds and umbrellas. Only a few minutes drive to restaurants, supermarkets, shops, banks and railway station. Beautiful 8m x 5m chestnut pergola with two terracotta tables and seating for eating al fresco. Table tennis.

Set amongst working farmland and surrounded by fields of sunflowers and grain, I Girasoli is ideally placed to visit places of interest in both Tuscany and Umbria. Retaining many of its original features, I Girasoli offers bright and comfortable accommodation for people of all ages, including the elderly and infirm, as well as wheelchair users.

Cortona is only a five minute drive away. Siena, Assisi, Perugia, Deruta, Gubbio, Montepulciano, Pienza, Orvieto, Arezzo, etc. are to name just a few of the numerous places to visit all within an hour drive. Lake Trasimeno, the third largest lake in Italy, and where Hannibal defeated the Romans, is only a fifteen minute drive from I Girasoli and has many beaches to offer.

The Tuscany region

Cortona is the oldest Etruscan hilltop town in Tuscany. Lake Trasimeno is only a fifteen minute drive away - where Hannibal defeated the Romans. The area is full of art and history.

The towns and villages in the area have festas throughout the Summer and there is always something going on. Lake Trasimeno with its beaches and islands is beautiful.

Cortona area

Cortona is a beautiful town and is reached by a winding road through olive groves. The uninterrupted views from Cortona are breathtaking. The famous Signorelli theatre in Piazza Signorelli has open air concerts in the Summer.

There is a huge BBQ in Cortona in August called "Sagra della Bistecca".

There are water sports available here. Arezzo holds a monthly antique market - on the first Sunday of each month plus the preceding Saturday. Mont Amiata is a Winter ski resort and is only a one and a half hour drive away.

How to get there

Cheap flights available from Ryanair to Perugia airport - 68 kms (30 minute dual carriageway drive) or Pisa airport - 220 kms(2 hr motorway drive).

Cheap flights available from Easyjet to Rome airport - 220 kms (2 hr motorway drive)
Meridiana fly to Florence airport - 91 kms (1 hr motorway drive).

Other airlines fly to all of these airports too.

The mainline railway station of Cortona (Camucia) is a three minute drive from us and is a 1 hr journey from Florence and 2 hour journey from Rome.
