The Tuscany region

Tuscany has an immense artistic and cultural heritage. It is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and has been home to many influential figures in the history of art and science. But you can also sample the Etruscan sites created by the first major civilization in this region from the 8th century BC reaching its peak during the 7th and 6th centuries BC. If Florence is primarily about the Renaissance, in Siena it's the medieval period that predominates. In Pisa you can see the Leaning Tower and we suggest to go to San Gimignano with its famous towers, Pienza, Volterra, Montepulciano and Montalcino. But the first one, obviously, should be Cortona.... The Tuscan countryside is also charming: undulating green hills, narrow cobblestone paved villages, sunflower fields and traditional cuisine. Welcome in Tuscany.

Cortona

Cortona is the main artistic and cultural center of the Val di Chiana and one of the most important Etruscan sites of Italy. The prevailing character of Cortona's architecture is medieval with steep narrow streets situated on a hillside embracing the view of the Val di Chiana and lake Trasimeno. The small town, surrounded by its ancient walls and topped off by the ruined fortress, is a treasure trove of cobbled streets and alleys, churchs, ancient buildings, combining with bars and cafes, as well as excellent restaurants.
