The Fuerteventura region
With tourism booming on Fuerteventura, Corralejo, situated in the north, is one of the most popular resorts on the island. Once a small fishing village Corralejo has now grown into a lively colourful town.
Luckily, it has managed to retain its original charm and atmosphere. There are still white sandy beaches in the town centre where you can 'drop down' and soak up the Canarian sunshine.
Most of the shops, bars and restaurants are along the main street which leads right down through the music square and on to the harbour which looks across to the other side of town and the sand dunes.
These dunes (which are a protected nature reserve) lie just beyond the town. The dunes spread for miles along the east coast and this is what makes Corralejo such a popular resort.
The Corralejo area
Surrounded by beautiful beaches but central to all the facilities Fuerteventura has to offer, Corralejo is the most popular resort for most holidaymakers. It is around 40 minutes from the airport and is next door to the famous sand dunes.
You can still find some of the original houses in the town, these are simple and quaint but most have now been transformed into shops and restaurants.
Corralejo caters for all ages . Some of the wide variety of activities that holidaymakers enjoy are watersports, tennis, Glass bottom boat trips, Ferry trips to Lanzarote, Jeep Safaris, Island tours, Mountain biking, Motorbike tours etc..
Fuerteventura is one of largest but most unspoilt of the Canaries. You can see Lanzarote from Corralejo and if you feel the urge, you can get one of the regular ferries over to visit it for a day!
The beaches are second to none whether you want a quiet one or one that is a bit more lively.

On arrival at the villa, we noticed quite a bit of noise from workmen next door, they were cutting stone to clad the walls around the pool. Due to illness Sandra was unavailable to meet us so we were greeted by a lady called Ann to whom we commented that we hoped the noise wasn't going to continue all week, unfortunately it did, starting at 8.00am some days, then a few days into our visit the villa behind also began work around the pool, drilling a channel out !! Whilst I appreciate maintenance on property is necessary I would have liked to have been informed about it prior to arrival & whilst the owner may not be on site & have been fully aware of it the management team who greet guests & clean the villa should have been aware of this. The noise and the dust meant we were unable to fully utilise the outside space around the pool and we were also disappointed that there were no sunbeds available on the upstairs terrace (as advertised). Four sunbeds for a villa that occupies eight could get tricky !! Inside the villa was spotlessly clean however only the two double beds had been made up & we were a party of a couple, a single lady in her 50's, a Gran in her 70's & a teenage boy hence opting for a four bedroom villa, the bedding was soon sorted & then we noticed the lack of a handrail on the bottom section of the stairs into the basement bedrooms would mean extra care would be needed going down there (especially after a few cocktails !!) Location wise this villa is in a very quiet area with amenities such as supermarket, bars & restaurant readily available at the El Campinario complex 200 yards away, taxi's are also readily available from there at a cost of approx three euro's to the harbour area. Despite all the noise & dust from the works going on around us we had a good New Year in Corralejo & it was warmer than the UK !!! Response: Unfortunately neighbours are supposed to check if I have guests before commencing any work on their villas. In this case they did not and I have addresses this issue with them and it shouldn't happen again! |

We had the best holiday!! The villa itself was amazing and so spacious for all 7 of us to live comfortably with each other for the week. It was a perfect location also, not too close to the hustle and bustle for it to bother you but close enuogh to walk too without any hassle. Taxi's to the centre cost 3-4 euros if you didnt want to walk up the road to the town but the walk is just 10-15 mins and easy! There is a supermarket at the end of the road which was great and stocked lots with a British store also at the end of the road. All in all we had a fantastic holiday, very relaxing just what we all needed and with the perfect weather, it couldnt of been better! We will most definately book your villa again should it be available. To quote one of the party with us, it was one of the best, most relaxing holidays he has ever had and we all had to agree. Sandra was a treasure and looked after us brilliantly and it was so nice to meet her. Response: Many thanks for youe kind comments! |

Myself and my partner enjoyed our stay at this villa which is situated in a quiet area with a nice park across the road. Both the beach and the town centre are only a 10min walk away and there is supermarket 5mins away so you do not need a car. The water park is nearby and well worth a visit. The villa has everything you need although I did have to go into the basement garage to find a full length mirror! Jim, the owner and Sandra, the rep/agent - not sure of her title - are very friendly and helpful. We ended up spending a lot of our holiday at the villa as it was such a nice place to spend time - by the pool or on the terrace or indoors when you need a bit of shade. The villa has a lot of stairs which would make it unsuitable for some people. There is plenty of room for large groups but we did feel "lost" being there just as a couple. If there are only 2 of you staying you get a bathroom each and one to spare! Response: I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves and if you ever wish to return, please let me know! |
