About this location
The Canary Islands region
Fuerteventura is one of the canary islands which has an all year round warm climate similar to that of florida and mexico, a sea breeze keeps the humidity low. Flight times from uk is approx 4 hours.
With three thousand hours of sunshine a year, Fuerteventura is the closest Canary Island to the African coast with only 100km separating the 'Punta de la Entallada' from Cape Juby in Morroco and is the second largest (after Tenerife) of all the islands.
There is nowhere else in the Canaries with as many enormous sand dunes and long sandy beaches (more than one hundred and fifty). Even though most of the land consists of stone and rock, these are some of the most impressive beaches in the whole of Europe. Approx 98km long and 30km across at the widest point.
In the history of time Fuerteventura is generally regarded as the oldest of all the Canaries and its strange contours come from various volcanic episodes.
Water sports are very popular in Fuerteventura. There are many new attractions inviting tourists to discover different aspects of the Island's landscape and culture such as the Betancuria Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography and Tefia Craft Village to name but a few.
plenty of night life, restaurants to cater for all tastes and family bars, golf one of the finest in Europe is 10 mins drive
With tourism booming on Fuerteventura, Corralejo, situated in the north, is one of the most popular resorts on the island.
More and more apartments are springing up each year to cope with the demand, and Corralejo which was once a small fishing village, has now grown into a lively colourful town.
Luckily, Corralejo has managed to retain its original charm and atmosphere, and there are still white sandy beaches in the town centre, where you can 'drop down' and soak up the Canarian sunshine. The water is calm and very child fiendly with beach bars to have a cool afternoon cocktail to cool you down.
Most of the shops, bars and restaurants are along the main street which leads right down through the music square and on to the harbour which looks across the other side of town and the sand dunes. Restaurants are plentiful with all different tastes to cater for. There are also lots of bars with family entertainment from elvis look-a-likes to quiznights and drag shows, or you can have a quiet relaxing meal and drink in many of the harbourside restaurants, many which have been old canarian style houses which have been converted.
The sand dunes are a protected nature reserve which lie just beyond the town and spread along the east coast miles of white sand is what makes coralejo such a popular resort.
Corralejo caters for all ages and there's a wide variety of things to do, from watersports, tennis, Glass bottom boat trips, Ferry trips to Lanzarote, Jeep Safaris, Island tours, Mountainbiking, Motorbike tours waterpark, themepark, bungi jumps, trampolines, amusements, golf - 10 min drive.

The apartment was very comfortable it offered everything described in the owners write up.
The air conditioning unit installed in the living room made all the difference as it became quite hot in the property, unfortunately this unit could not be left on for a long period of time due to the fact the water/vapour (?) condenses in a large bottle outside and should this fill up it will cause a back flow and leak from the main unit ( this is just a minor detail to be aware of and not a problem!)
The apartment overlooked the pool and had a nice view also. The sun came upon the Balcony in the afternoon and was there til sun down. A sunbed would of been a welcome addition to the balcony !
Atlantic Gardens was a nice place to stay and the pool area and grounds where very clean and well maintained. There is a supermarket literally next door for all your requirements.
Personally I did not think much to Corralejo.
There is a large strip of shops and restaurants which are excellent. The beaches in Corralejo town are not worth writing home about !! The large sand dune beach is actually quite a walk away and if you can get there it is worth it.
I would recommend this apartment in Atlantic Gardens to anyone wanting home comforts and who wants to stay in /or visit Corralejo.
The air conditioning system has been up graded to a more efficient system. The lounge area is cool, even in the afternoon when the sun coming through the window is at its hottest. The beaches in Corralejo are stunning and the flagbeach is only a few euros in a taxi. There is a smaller beach only a few mins walk from Atlantic Gardens which has lovely white sand and some nice eating places on the beach. Excellent for kids and sunbathing.
