Private Island Beachfront Vila
from £667 /night help
Villa | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 12
OH MY GOD are the words most commonly heard as guests arrive at Isla de Dios. Absolute privacy, beautiful sandy and pebble beach, private cook, housekeeper, boatman and gardener all are par of the course at our unique beachfront hideaway. Situated just 15 minute drive from Coron airport (4 flights daily from Manila) and a further 30 minute private boat ride from the mainland.
Relax with a fresh coconut, a cold beer or a cocktail of choice on the beach with no one else in sight. (BYO alcohol) Our beach is privately owned and is for your exclusive use only. Our staff although they may not be ex Hyatt trained, work tirelessly to ensure you have the holiday of your lifetime. Please do not expect 5 star luxury service because our staff are local to the area and not trained as such. This really is a beach house if ever there was one. Expect sandy feet and hammocks, not marble bathrooms and spa treatments.
We have 3 tastefully appointed queen bedrooms with ensuites, and a huge mezanine bunkroom upstairs with 5 single beds and an extra double bed s to accommodate up to 7 extra adults/children. In all we can accommodate very comfortable up to 6 - 8 adults and 6 – 8 children. Max 13 in beds with the possibility of a few extra on the sofas.
Our friendly staff are on hand to prepare 3 meals a day plus snacks in between. A typical days meals would start with fresh organic fruit, cereal, eggs, toast and condiments. Lunch is usually fresh salads, chicken, breads and more fruit – with fresh coconut juice to wash it down. Afternoon tea is usually served Oceanside to compliment your sunset drinks while our team prepare a lush dinner of freshly caught seafood, assorted meats, woodfired vegetables, rice and some traditional Filipino favourites.
Our price is all inclusive accommodation, all taxes, transfers and meals. All beverages including beer are at your own expense and can be bought at a very reasonable price from the local market on the mainland but spirits are not available even on the mainland and would have to be brought with you.
This is NOT Necker Island and the owner is NOT Richard Branson. This is a family holiday home most of the year that we share with others when we are not using it to help offset the huge expense of having it. Please be realistic and understand what your booking. This is a castaway island experience situated in the last frontier of the Phipinnes and sometimes a sense of humour is required. You might ask for banana bread and be given banana on toast.
Things to do…
While the most common pastime is relaxing, reading and taking in the breathtaking beauty, there are options to get active. We have kayak, snorkels, boat etc- all for your complimentary use plus boardgames, volleyball, beach soccer and croquet.
There are several recommended island hopping tours we can arrange free of charge visiting other islands and secret coves none of which are more than 30 mins away. There is also a diver center just across the bay that can arrange diving at your own expense.
The Dugong Dive Center offers diving to guests and several other activities. (contact direct)
• Dimakya Island, home to Dugung Dive Center, is a turtle nesting site. They boast an extensive hatchling rearing and release program.
• Under protection for over 15 years, their House Reef is one of the best reefs around. With beach-entry, you just gear up and go dive whenever you like.
• Dugong-watching, a professionally produced ecotourism activity, takes divers and non-divers along the lengthy coast of Busuanga to see gentle dugongs in the wild.
• The Apo Reef Natural Park, with more than 20 dive sites, will truly fascinate you with its magnificent walls and large fish species. The reef plateau will surely impress divers and snorkelers alike.
• Dive the Coron Shipwrecks from WWII which are now amazingly covered with marinelife. One of the best, Kyokuzan Maru is only 30 minutes away.
• Overnight Excursions will show you the best the sites can offer.
• For longer and safer dives, we offer Nitrox.
• Training Programs from PADI, SDI and TDI are available.
Following are the seven most popular shipwreck diving attractions in Coron: We cannot transport you to Coron but can arrange it for you at your own expense.
Irako Refrigeration Ship – Possibly the best shipwreck dive in the Philippines. It has the best visibility of all wrecks in Coron because it is still mostly intact. There are also interesting species making the wreck their home. For expert divers, deep penetration through the engine room is also possible.
Taiei Maru – Located in Busuanga Island, this freighter tanker is the biggest ship wreck in Coron. There are hard corals, turtles, sea snakes and different species of fish including scorpion and trumpet fish.
Kogyo Maru – The Kogyo Maru was a Japanese freighter carrying building material supplies when it sank. The ship is still intact and the engine parts are still complete. There are hard and soft corals everywhere and divers will have close contact with barracuda swimming by – although, of course, it is advised not to get too close with that contact, given that they are barracuda.
Akitsushima - The Akitsushima was a seaplane carrier. It lies on her port side between the Culion and Busuanga Islands. The ship is almost broken into two parts but the crane for lifting seaplanes is still intact. There are barracudas, yellow fin tunas and batfishes in the wreck.
Olympia Maru – The Olympia Maru is a Japanese freighter located in Coron Bay near Tangat Island. There are many schools of fishes like banana fish, bat fish, puffer fish, scorpions and crocodile fish.
Okikawa Maru – Found in Busuanga Island, this is yet another contender for the title of best wreck dive in the Philippines. The whole ship is covered with exquisite corals, and a variety of marine life can be found in the surroundings. For experienced divers, penetration can be done through various rooms of the ship.
Kyokuzan Maru – The Kyokuzan Maru is a Japanese freighter found in the Northeast part of Busuanga Island. The ship is still intact. With many corals surrounding the wreck, it provides a good diving experience. There are also different species of fish around. Experienced divers may penetrate the wreck and find cars and trucks in the cargo room.
The Coron Bay in Palawan truly offers many great underwater adventure. The many sunken wrecks of Coron make for a good diving experience not only for expert divers but most especially for novice divers.
