Come and enjoy a comfortable holiday at Pridhams, Cornworthy, this is a beautifully converted spacious detached 17th century barn conversion situated on a former smallholding in the centre of the village of Cornworthy. Only a minute's stroll from the local pub, Pridhams is also ideally suited for some unforgettably beautiful walks in this glorious part of the Dart Valley in South Devon. We love to welcome our guests to Pridhams, and you'll find an authentic Devon Cream Tea and a generous Welcome pack to greet you on arrival. One well behaved dog welcome.
Well behaved dogs are welcome too, and have their own Welcome pack to help them feel at home too!You won't find minimalist “Urban Chic” or “Uber Cool,” decor at Pridhams (we're not “Chintzy either”) – but you will discover honest, unpretentious and simple quality.
Pridhams is a reverse level property, and off the entrance hall are two good sized bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed, the other with two twin beds. Beds are seriously comfortable with memory foam overlays over orthopaedic mattresses with some of the best egyptian cotton bedding money can buy. Plenty of thick, fluffy towels are provided as standard (along with with the ubiquitous complimentary toiletries!).The downstairs bathroom is equipped with bath with 'rain shower' over, shower screen, basin and WC. Also on this floor is a separate utility room with washing machine and freezer.
Upstairs comprises a open plan kitchen/dining area and lounge with many of the original features of the barn's character retained.Vaulted ceilings with exposed roof trusses and ancient oak beams lend an almost medieval feel to this area, but with a light, airy and spacious atmosphere enhanced with wallhangings copied from those in the Cluny museum. Furnishings include a large, traditional welsh dresser, oak refrectory dining table and chairs and comfortable armchairs and sofa to relax in. Thick, heavy, lined belgian damask curtains and Tiffany style lamps offer a lovely ambience for a cosy night in. A 32? freesat TV with integral DVD player and large library of DVDs is supplied, as is a music centre with a good selection of audio books. Music CDs of most genres are also available for your use as well as a good selection of books, toys and board games.
The kitchen area has often been described by our guests as one of the best equipped they've ever had in self-catering accommodation. Beech worksurfaces, butler sink, dishwasher, microwave, electric double oven with halogen hob, fridge with freezing compartment all as standard. The lounge has french doors which lead out onto a large paved garden for your own private use – it has a purpose built barbeque area, hardwood garden furniture and is well stocked with architectural planting, including olives, figs and palms. It's a real sun trap during the day, and perfect for alfresco dining during the long summer evenings.

The Devon region
Hidden away in it's own little valley close to The River Dart between Totnes and Dittisham is the village of Cornworthy, The Dart Valley Trail is easily accessible with lovely walks beside the river bank and surrounding woodland. The Hunters Lodge in the village is a well known pub, known amongst visitors and locals for good food. On the edge of the village standing alone in a field is the remains of the gatehouse to an Augustinian Priory dating from 1231.
