The Loire Valley / Loir-et-Cher region
This is perfect for château visitors, golfers, cyclists looking for quiet rural roads and families wanting a get-away where the children can roam unaccompanied in safety.
The kings of France built their châteaux here- this region has a superb micro- climate. The Chateau of Cheverny is only 5 Km away- still occupied by owner- beautiful grounds, orangerie and hunting dogs all included in visit. The village of Cheverny is charming with local bistro and pizza restaurants.
Cormeray area
Trips out include the Zoo at Saint Aignan, Blois, Tours, Amboise and a superb restaurant only 4 Kms away- Auberge du Centre Chitenay, People drive from Belgium, Switzerland, Germany plus of course the UK to dine here!
There is a golf course near by which is just 5 minutes drive away. Numerous local markets are every day of the week- owner will supply a detailed list.
Degustation/ wine tasting at local wine growers only 5 mins drive; and Vouvray's famous wines only 40 mins away.
How to get there
Our gite is only 20mins from the autoroute A10 at Blois. From Calais, Le Havre and Dieppe we recommends the A16 to Abbeville, then the A28 to Lemans and on to Tours. Then take the A10 to Blois. After leaving the A10 at Blois, follow signs for Chateauroux/Contres. A detailed map can be emailed to you. An alternative route via Paris can be quicker outside of peak season.
From Ouistreham/ Caen instructions can be supplied.
