The Ionian Islands region

Corfu Facts
Corfu is the most northerly of the Ionian Islands and is 35 miles long and approximately 15 miles wide. At the northern centre, is Mount Pantocrator with a height of just over 1000 meters. The NE coast is made up of secluded bays, pretty fishing villages, gently shelving beaches and sparkling clear waters. The west coast, with its high cliffs and long sweeping sandy beaches, is a complete contrast.
Its physical beauty of lush vegetation, combined with the typical Greek seascapes and the architecture of the British and the Italians, attract hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The island of Corfu is an exceptional resort for your holidays as it combines breathtaking natural beauty, interesting historical sites and the unique mentality of the hospitable inhabitants.

Corfu Gouvia: Approximately 4 km long and 1 km wide, Gouvia in Corfu has become one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island, offering both lively nightlife and quiet hillside spots. The resort has a definite nautical ambience due to the Gouvia Marina. It boasts a large yacht marina and was once a historic
Venetian naval base. At one end of the beach of Gouvia you will find a ruined Venetian arsenal and the precariously beached wreck of a yacht. Adjoining Gouvia is the village of Kontokali while 1 km inland is Danilia, a purpose-built, Greek-style village where folklore performances are organised for evening trips.
Beach information: The beach of Gouvia is 500 meters away from Spiti Prifti and 1,5 klm or so from the Blue Flagged, sandy beach at Kontokali. The beach is pebbly and organised with sun beds, sun umbrellas, showers and toilets while being accessible from both ends of the village. As with many Corfiot beaches it is child friendly but supervision is required.
Entertainments in Gouvia: Daytime: beach and water-based activities including paragliding, diving and a variety of other water sports , boat trips, horse riding, exploring local countryside.
Nightlife: Lively tavernas, cocktail and sports bars, Clubs, mainly along the main road.
The Marina: Gouvia Marina is fully organised, offering facilities and services of high standards. The total capacity is 960 berths, on both permanent and floating pontoons, while there are dry dock facilities for approximately 520 boats. Moorings are available for boats up to 80 meters long and with 6 meters draught and for period up to 20 years. The Gouvia marina operates all year round on a 24-hour basis. The marina's boat and personnel will provide all necessary assistance to those interested.

We have just returned from your hotel apartments after a superbly relaxing week. The efforts that you went to ensure that my brothers wedding day went well were really appreciated. We loved the way that nothing was to much trouble and Eleni's ability to remember every guest's name was phenomenal. Mr and Mrs Prifti also made us very welcome.
The apartments were first class with great facilities and we reckon that the restaurant is the best in Gouvia and Babis and Victor were attentive and obliging.
Because of our commitments we probably won't get back for sometime but rest assured that your place will be top of our list when we do get back to Corfu.
Thank you.
Steve & Katherine Watson
