Home description
This spacious self catering village house is full of character and extends on three floors. It has two separate bedrooms with a bathroom, a kitchen, diner and lounge with a sofa bed, a lovely inset balcony and a yard. The house has been sympathetically restored, preserving as much as possible of the original fabric of the building, including the timber stairs and wood-beamed ceilings. Like this the original character and atmosphere was preserved while the house offers all modern comforts. It has a fully equipped kitchen and is tastefully decorated with lovely pieces of handmade traditional furniture and lighting.
The house is an ideal place to stay for visitors who are looking for something 'off the beaten tracks'. Varipatades is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, far away from the busy tourist resorts. The legendary Greek 'filoxenia' (hospitality) is still a living tradition here and the locals really make you feel at home. Although the village itself is quiet, the grand west coast beaches, the golf course, Aqualand, Pelekas and Corfu Town are only a 10 min. drive away. A perfect starting point for those who want to get away from everyday life and combine the charm of the Greek lifestyle with relaxing on the beach, exploring beautiful countryside and enjoying romantic sunsets.
Inset balcony with fabulous views on the top floor
The excellent sandy beach of Glyfada, near Varypatades

The Ionian Islands region
A popular destination from Roman Times, the Ionian Islands offer today infinitive alternatives. Some distinctive characteristics are the fresh and evergreen landscapes, impressive natural features, endless beaches, traditional mountain and seaside villages, interesting historical monuments and a warm hospitality. Despite their common characteristics, each island has many things to offer that create a unique and distinguished context for your holidays.
Corfu is the second largest island in the group and was not named the Emerald Island without reason. It's the greenest of all the Greek islands, with a natural beauty hidden under a cloak of emerald green and a mountainous skyline plunging into the bluest of waters. Hundreds of beaches with sand or pebbles invite visitors for a carefree swim in the sparkling clean water and even in high season there beaches which remain deserted.
Interesting sights and monastries, an elegant architecture, fine cuisine and exciting nightlife all play a part in making Corfu one of the most charming islands in Greece. Take a little time to explore the island and you will be rewarded with some of the most spectacular scenery on offer by any destination. Whether you are looking for long lazy days in the sun, dancing through the night or sampling traditional village life, Corfu has something for everyone.
Corfu / Varypatades area
The village of Varipatades is an attractive alternative to mass-market package holidays. Here you can get- away-from-it-all and enjoy the atmosphere of an unspoiled Corfiot village and getting to know the people and their warm hospitality. This picturesque, traditional settlement is located in the central of Corfu, near the village of Pelekas. Except for an old coffee bar, there are no facilities left in Varipatades, so in the morning the baker delivers bread to the locals in the village square. The nearest supermarket is about five minutes drive away. Although the village is peaceful, there are a number of excellent sandy beaches nearby like Kontoyialos, Glyfada and Agios Gordis. Besides a carefree swim in the sparkling clean water they offer a variety of watersports, and boat hire to explore the beautiful bays of the west coast. Families should definitely visit Aqualand, the most amazing waterpark of Europe, golfers can play on the greens of the 18-hole golf course and for walkers there is a wide tract of unspoiled countryside to explore on foot.
Corfu has lots of interesting sights like The Achillion Palace, Bella Vista above Paleokastritsa, described as the best view in Europe and of course the view of Mouse Island from Kanoni which has become Corfu's most famous trademark. Another 'must' is a visit to the historic centre of Corfu Town, or Kerkyra as the locals say. The old town is the largest ‘living’ medieval town preserved in Greece and is a mixture of Venetian, French, English and of course Greek architecture. Its streets wind and wander and its picturesque cobblestone alleyways are interrupted by statues, impressive churches and Venetian tenements and fountains. Places of interest to visit are the Old Fortress and the New Fortress with its beautiful panoramic views, the Archeologic museum and the Esplanade, one of the biggest squares in Europe. The Esplanade was originally laid out for better defence in the case of an enemy attack but is nowadays the hub of the Corfiot’s life. Here you can just walk around or sit in one of the many cafe bars underneath the arches of the ‘Liston’.
The island's natural beauty and impressive surroundings make a dinner out a special evening. In Pelekas and Sinarades there are several local tavernas which serve delicious Mediterranean food. For international cuisine and more conventional restaurants, Corfu Town is only 9 kms away. Bars and clubs for evey taste can be found in different resorts like Agios Gordis, Pelekas and Paleokastritsa. The main entertainment centre in Corfu town is 'the Emboriko Kendro' where the fun goes on till the morning hours.
