Vitalades is just 2 kms away and here you will find a traditional Greek village that looks like life hasnt changed in over a hundred years. Traditional cafes are located in the middle of the village where you can relax and enjoy the true Greek life..
Good tavernas and mini markets are located nearby and you can use the beautiful swimming pool at the Gardenos Hotel, just a five minute stroll away, where you can relax in the sun and enjoy a cool beer!

The Ionian Islands region
The south of corfu has a great many unspoilt areas, from the Aghios Mathios area going South, on East and West coast you will find numerous unspoilt beaches.
The widest part of the island is approx 7kms so turn left or right of the main road and you cant get lost .St George South is a larger resort where you will find water sking ,paragliding etc Ideal for a family day out.
Lefkimmi is the second largest town on the island where a good shopping area can be found in the centre of the town ,and numerous fine bars and restaurants. . For a fun day out Aqualand located outside of Corfu town is said to be the 2nd largest aqua park in Europe . A trip to Corfu has to include a days shopping through the narrow streets of Corfu town where you will find many local crafts and souveniers and large department Stores .Relax for an ice cream or coffee at one of the many sidewalk cafes or the Liston in the Centre of the Town where Its possible a cricket match may be being played.
Corfu town is steeped ih history from the church of St Spiridon to the Old Fort to the daily fresh food market under the shelter of the fort.

The immediate area around the village has lush olive groves and traditional farming areas where local produced foods can be bought .
The small fishing harbour also lands fish daily throughout the summer that can be purchased from the fishermen direct,or eaten at the beach tavernas for lunch or dinner with local produce wine . If you enjoy a walk there are beaches along the coast that can only be reached on foot so after a great lunch on the beach enjoy a picturesque walk to burn those calouries off!
about 6 kms away is the second biggest town on the island Lefkimmi ,which is truly Greek, take a trip in the evening to the river and enjoy a meal, Rick Stein gave a great review of the local produced food here .Try a crepe and a coffee at lunch time and watch the fish in the river and the local fishing boats returning with their catches. Easter in any greek village is a special time even those who are not religeous could not fail to be amazed at how this special time is celebrated. For the greeks this time is more special than Christmas
