The Ionian Islands region
Kalokairi Beach House is situated on the North East Coast of Corfu close to the beautiful village of Kassiopi. With direct access to Kalamaki Beach and the possibility of hiring a boat and exploring the beautiful coastline, deserted bays and hidden villages with their traditional Greek influences and tavernas, this area of Corfu is renowned for its beauty. The climate of Corfu makes it an all-year holiday destination with long hot summers and mild pleasant winters.
At the North-Eastern corner of the Island, Kassiopi stands in the foothills of the Pantokrator Mountain and is approached from either side by scenic coast roads. It's an established tourist resort famous as the holiday resort since the Roman times when even Emperor Nero kept his summer villa here. During its fascinating history Kassiopi was visited by Cicero, Nero, Richard Lionheart, Giaccomo Casanova, Cervantes. In the modern times the visitors continued and included the Duke of Kent, Princess Margaret and others.
Today the standing proof of the history is the Byzantine fortress (oldest Corfu) and the Church of Virgin Mary of Kassiopi. Kassiopi is called Kensington of the sea, renowned for its lively bars and sophisticated restaurants, set in a picturesque harbour.
