The Ionian Islands region
Because of the mild Mediterranean climate and the high rainfalls during winter, Corfu is full of abundant and verdant vegetation and wild plants, phenomenon that makes it one of the greenest islands in Greece.
The island is mountainous with several flat areas, two lakes and a couple of rivers that complete it's beautiful landscape.
Corfu is the largest town of the Ionians and one of the most beautiful towns of the Greek islands. Built between two fortresses and full of superb Italian and French buildings, Byzantine churches and flowered squares, Corfu Town is a real jewel full of innumerable charms and beauties.
Corfu's natural beauty hasn't gone unnoticed by the film industry it has been the setting for several movies such as the 1981 James Bond movie- For Your Eyes Only.
TRAVELLING AROUND CORFU, PLACES OF INTEREST?
- Corfu Town is a monument by itself, full of history and museums- important tourist attractions: the Old Fortress, the Old City, the Liston, The Byzantine Museum of Corfu (Antivouniotissas), Saint Spyridon's Church, the Museum of Asian Art, and the Archaeological Museum.
- The Achilleion Palace found in the village of Gastouri (also known as Princess Sissy's Palace)
- Over 200 blue flag beaches - Benitses beach is one of them
- Aqua Land - one of the biggest water park's in Europe
- Mouse Island - a small fishing boat can take you there
- Horse Riding in the village of Ano Korakiana
CORFU is ideal to visit during Easter when you can participate in one of the biggest Easter celebrations seen in Greece or in the Summer during which time you can enjoy the beautiful Ionian sea and very sunny weather.
A great number of restaurants and tavernas, kebab houses, coffee shops, bars and night clubs, the local supermarket and kiosk and of course souvenir shops can be found in the village of Benitses! A large Sea Museum and an archaeological site of Roman ruins can also be found in the area.
As Benitses is connected with both the Ionian sea and Corfiat mountains you could spend your day by the beach enjoying a vast array of water sports or up in the mountains hiking and exploring. Whatever way you decide to spend your holiday in Corfu, we can promise you that your stay at the Rising Sun in Benitses Tsaki will be an unforgettable experience...
When staying at the Rising Sun in Benitses Tsaki make sure not to miss out on the Sardine Festival held at Benitses during the first week of August or Saint Marina's 2-day festival held at Benitses on the 16th and 17th of July. Both festivals are celebrated with live traditional Ionian music, a lot of traditional Greek dancing and of course tasty Greek food! So don't miss out on some fresh grilled sardines caught by the local fishermen or tasty souvlaki and spit roasted lamb.

"Make you feel like you are a part of family"
We (me, my partner and 10 months old baby) stayed there for 2 weeks and enjoyed every minute of it! The owners will make you feel at home and do everything to make your stay enjoyable.
You have to try their smoothies and shakes - if not for a view and atmosphere it worth to go there to try their drinks!

"excellent place to relax"
Made to feel very welcome by all and a great bargain holiday. In a slightly secluded location so is very peaceful during the day and on an evening. Ideal for those wanting to relax. Apartments are suitable for all, although i would recommend hiring a car if you travel with young children. The 25 min walk in to the town/beach does not come with much pavement. There is a regular bus service which is cheap.

"Great base for exploring Corfu"
We had a great holiday at the Rising Sun. The owners and staff were welcoming and helpful. Accomodation was basic but clean with great views, nice swimming pool and a pool cafe.
The only issues we had was the distance to the village (Benitses) - car is required, but the owner also has a car rental company, so this must be included in your budget. Kitchen was very basic - minimal equipment. No laundry facilities nearby.
It would have been helpful to have a welcome pack with places to visit, transport etc - it took us a couple of days to work all this out.
Otherwise we had a relaxing time and would recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Corfu.

"Wonderful owners, spotlessly clean, glorious views just brilliant."
Only been back a day and all ready want to go back as we both had such a brilliant time.
Can not thank the owners Alyson, Spiros, and Maria and other staff for making us most welcome, and giving us so much information on where to eat the beaches etc. The appartment was cleaned daily and was spotless. the swimming pool with its views was breathtaking if you dont want to visit the many sandy beaches you can just sit by the pool and relax. As you see the pictures on the site that is the true reflection and you will not be disappointed. Alyson took us to town one day so we could do some shopping and while we were there we hired a car from Spiros her husband, who has a car rental place called Alpha which we found was the cheapest in town. Alyson loves to read and we swapped lots of books so take some to swap and read on the many sandy beaches.
We found a place called Mossingi which had a lovely bar called Borroco on the beach you get two sunbeds two iced coffees ( lovely) for 5 euros. Another beach about 25 mins away was Agios georges you get two sunbds table, chair, two iced coffees for six euros well worth visiting and plus if you want food or drinks on this great sandy beach the old guy gets it from the taverna above called taverna Malibu. Benitses is a lovely place and the people are really friendly. Can not really say what place was good to eat in as we found them all on the same par really lovely food. Definitely a place to visit and looking forward to visiting again.
Tank you Alyson, Spiros, Maria and rest of family and staff.

"Ideal place for a family holiday!"
Rising Sun Apartments exceeded our holiday expectations. The apartments area consists with two well kept buildings, nice garden with olives, roses and geraniums, a snack bar, and a large and clean pool! We travelled with three children, so the pool was of course one of the most important things for us. The view from the Rising Sun apartments is amazing! You can enjoy the sea view with boats slowly sailing towards the Greece mainland in the horizon, or you can turn and enjoy the green mountain view with olive trees. Rooms were clean and well equipped including air condition. The distance to the city of Benitses is about three kilometers, so a car or taxi is needed to go to restaurants and shopping. In addition to all this, the friendly owners and emplyees of Rising Sun apartments really made us feel at home, safe and relaxed!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We hope to see you again soon.
All the best,
The Rising Sun
