About the home

Del Cielo "of the sky" is a stunning, totally romantic private retreat offering 360 degree views over the coastline, Albania, the Greek mainland and much of the island itself. Situated in a commanding position and is a landmark building It offers total privacy and seclusion and was featured in the Sunday Times as one of Europe's top 100 Villas. it is a landmark building, the tower being seen from miles around. It has been built of natural and imported Italian stone, set into the landscape retaining almost all of its 150 olive trees.

It is ideal for large family gatherings or group of friends, as it offers great possibilities for entertaining, with an excellent outdoor kitchen, fully equipped with barbecue and wood burning oven and various indoor and outdoor play/entertainment facilities including satellite T.V and Wi-Fi internet connection to keep the children (of all ages!) entertained.

The interiors have been stylishly decorated creating a light, relaxed and informal ambiance. The accommodation is spread out: three bedrooms in main buliding and two bedrooms in separate buildings reached by pathways through well illuminated garden. Ideal for adult parties, young children should be supervised. Designed to give individual outside space and privacy to each bedroom, younger children best to occupy bedrooms 2 and 3 as these are part of the main building.

Kitchen: Custom built, oak worktops, double Belfast sink, large central island, Rangemaster cooker, American-style fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, blender, juicer, toaster and kettle. Complete range of tableware, glasses, cutlery, cookware. Door to covered terrace with table and seating for 12. Open plan to dining area.

Separate Utility Room: Washing machine, tumbler dryer, iron, ironing board, clothes airer, direct access to terrace/ outside drying area, cot, high chair, Belfast sink. Plug-in car Cool box and bags for picnics.

The circular sitting room has sweeping staircase, 2 sofas, 3 chairs, coffee tables, 43" flat screen T.V,/Blue Ray home cinema system, Bose i-pod player/charger. Open plan to dining room with cane table & 6 chairs, card, board & dice games

Outside kitchen with pizza oven, Corfiot barbque, fridge freezer, dishwasher, stone sink, food prep bench, 2 bar stools, kettle, electric grils, ample outdoor tableware, glasses, tumblers, dishes, cutlery & utensils. Stone table next to kitchen and pool area seats 12. Fuel for pizza oven and bar-b-que.

Air conditioning in all bedrooms, mosquito nets, under floor heating ( upon request in winter months only).

Totally private extensive grounds: including huge 20m x 10m private infinity pool with walk -in slope, surrounded by 3 timber decked areas on different levels. Fully equipped outdoor kitchen/barbecue with pizza oven, Corfiot bar-b-que, table and seating for 12+ people. 6 teak sunbeds with cushions and 4 deck chairs.

Landscaped garden and natural olive grove.

Childrens' shady playground with swing and climbing frame, netball, table tennis and boules pitch. Full sun and natural shade provided by olive trees.

Large shaded kitchen terrace with table & seating for 10 plus wicker patio furniture. Exclusive roof terrace to main bedroom with shaded loggia and large sun terrace, it has wicker sofa/lounger and further seating. Small courtyard with walkway shared by bedrooms 2 and 3. Lower garden area and balcony for bedroom 4.

Ample space to be sociable or to have a quiet moment away from the rest of the family, whether in full sun, dappled or full shade, as preferred. Generous shaded parking

Further details

Cleaning/towels/linen/maid service: Maid service 3 times a week, linen changed twice a week. Bed linen, towels and pool towels provided. Pool man 3 times a week, gardener weekly, we try as far as possible to avoid disturbing our guests.

Accessibility
Not suitable for wheel chair access. Car hire essential, recommend ( but not essential) vehicle with good road clearance. There is a bumpy road ( better described as track) of about 450 meters from the main road to Villa.

Children are welcome and catered for, but should be supervised ( as you would with any villa perched on a hill with an infinity pool) if you have young children please contact owners for full details.

Conditions

Booking is completed with payment of 25% upon booking together with completion of booking form , 75% balance required 8 weeks prior to departure. Refunds will be given for cancellations only if Villa can be re-booked.
£300 security deposit for breakages and damages (refundable within 2 weeks of departure date)

Autumn Sun on Del Cielo

The Ionian Islands region

Corfu is one of the Ionian Islands situated off the West coast of the Greek mainland. It is 36 miles long by 15 miles at its widest part and has a population of about 100,000. Covered with over 3 million evergreen olive trees, it has the densest planting of olive trees of anywhere in the world. Corfu, with it's Mediterranean Climate, even during the hot dry summers remains one of the greenest of the Mediterranean islands as it's rainfall during the winter months is high.

The North east coast continues to be the most sought after region for quality villa holidays. In the center of this region is 'Mount Pantocrator' with a height of 998 meters. DEL CIELO is beautifully situated about 1/3 of the way up .

The History of Corfu is fascinating with Turkish, Italian British rule . The Archaeology is immense, Prince Philip was born on the island and Corfu town is full of many splendid buildings including a great selection of museums and art galleries. The Corfu / Spartilas area

There are many ameinities nearby, the village shop and excellent chemist in Spartilas village. Nearest supermarket at Ipsos (AB) also 2 ATMs, 2 convenience stores, butchers, chemist, medical clinic, scooter and car hire. Petrol station within 4 km at bottom of hill towards Ipsos, take away grill opposite (ideal for picking up rotisserie chicken on way home). Boat Hire at Nissaki (12mins).

Corfu town has excellent market for local produce (park at New Fort), many shops, some excellent restaurants (go to Gilford Street,) and several banks. On road into Corfu town several larger supermarkets.

Closest taverna is walk-able Taverna Agnadio, many cafes & tavernas at Ipsos try the most unlikely looking called Moby Dick (next to chemist) is to our minds the best food,- very basic surroundings, not much ambience but good for a quick meal, has surprisingly good Italian dishes, great salads, try "Mediterranean", excellent pizzas and pastas( if you like mushrooms try "Chef's Spaghetti", ). Also excellent grill house "Roumeli" (next door to Vitamins) at Nissakii, entertainment on Saturday, spit roast on Thursdays

Further afield 3 famous tavernas at Agni, (we love the most simple and most friendly-Taverna Nikolas, - you will be well looked after more up at their jetty for lunch.) Fish taverna at Koulouri harbour (book) or the Taverna Eucalyptus in Agios Stephanos ( 40 mins in car, less by boat). Nearer to home go up the mountain and stop for lunch at Strinilas, first on rhs is the best for Sunday lunch (local produce, much organic, or further up on left is a cafe that serves the best egg and chips in Corfu ( free range and organic hand cut potatoes fried in local olive oil), can't beat it!

All the main European Airports have scheduled and charter flights into Corfu and the island is served by Easyjet and recently, Ryan Air. Corfy can be reached by ferry from mainland Greece and also from Venice, Ancona, Bari in Italy.

Payment is preferred in £STERLING by bank transfer or cheque. Prices are per week for the whole Villa for occupancy of up to 10 persons (plus children age 2 and under). A £300 returnable deposit is also payable as security against any damage to the villa and/or grounds, breakages to any furniture, fittings, equipment, plant machinery or appliances in or about the Villa, and for any damage or destruction to trees and plants and for any loss of property at the Villa. This will be returned less any deductions for damages within 2 weeks of the departure date.
