The Ionian Islands region

Corfu Town has all the style and sophistication of any cosmopolitan centre and yet it is steeped in historical character and age old traditions.
Old Fortress: The first settlement of the new Corfu Town during the 6th century started on the hill that would later become the Old Fortress. Built and fortified by the Venetians.
New Fortress: The walls of the New Fortress tower above the north-western side of the Old Town.
Achilleion Palace: This famous building was constructed in 1892 for Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Princess Sissy).
The Esplanade: The hub of Corfiot life is the Esplanade. Stroll around the gardens or sit in one of the many cafe bars.
Palace of St George and St Michael: Is the most impressive monument from the British rule of Corfu.
Archaeological Museum: The pride of the museum is the ‘Gorgon Pediment’ that is the oldest surviving monumental sculpture in Greece.
If you enjoy walking there are some interesting trails inland.
The Corfu / Dassia - St Nicolas area
Dassia has an abundance of quality restaurants offering a good selection ranging from traditional Greek cuisine and unique Corfiot dishes to Italian and Indian. For those on a budget you can get a good three course meal for under £ 10 and sample quality Greek cuisine for just a few pounds. There are plenty of tavernas to choose from which is one of the main reasons we would not recommend any of the all-inclusive on offer in the resort.
There is a good range of both basic tavernas and quality restaurants to keep everyone happy. The Greeks adore children and they are more than welcome in most bars and restaurants. Nightlife in Dassia: Evening entertainment in Dassia is relaxed, laid back and varied. There are enough bars to keep everyone happy, but Dassia is not a lively nightclub resort as such. There are no clubs, but there are two very lively disco bars that are open well into the early hours. There are also lively bars on the beach.
Distances:
Local supermarket and bakery 300 m, 24 h bank-cash 300 m.
Activities near Dassia:
Tennis in dafnila, bird watching, cycling, fishing, gymnasium, health spa, horse riding, night life, sailing, scuba diving, walking, water sports. Aqualand, Corfu's water park, is great fun for all ages. Situated in the Ropa Valley, just 20 min drive from Dassia, the park has a great selection of slides and rides, a lazy river and pool.

i have recently returned from St Nicholas House Villa with a group of friends and i just wanted to leave some comments. The villa in my opinion is stunning. The pictures in the brochure and on-line in no way do this amazing building any justice. The main villa area is nicely decorated is very cool as all built in stone. The air conditioning is essential however in peak months and is available in all the bedrooms only(not living area). On the note i must comment that the owner of the villa is a very friendly helpful man. He is always pottering around, either doing the garden, cleaning the pool etc... nothing at all is too much trouble and anything you need dont be afraid to ask! The villa is isolated just off the main Dassia road but you can walk into the small local town were you will find an adequate selection of restaurants and bars. For a slightly busier night visit Ipsos (10 min drive away). For food drive to the local AB supermarket but if you want some good wine my top tip is Liddels!!! My last comment is the suitability of the villa. Absolutely ideal for groups of friends, large families with older children. However , in my opinion this villa is not suited for those with very small children. There is no child area of the pool, the grounds are fairly open and a young child could easily wonder and find themselves at steps etc... Overall, a fantastic villa. 10/10, great relaxing holiday was had.

Just returned from Corfu after a fantastic holiday at St Nicholas House in Dassia. It was my husbands' 60th birthday so we treated the kids, their partners and our nine year old grandaughter to a week at St Nicholas House and Apartment. It was the best holiday we have ever had and that was mainly down to the exceptional villa and pool. The photos on the website could be better, the villa was much better than we expected. the accomodation is really impressive, comfortable and homely. I think the owner has got it just right. On our arrival the villa was spotlessly clean and fresh , very well equipped with absolutely everything we could have possibly needed for our holiday. There is a nice liittle shingle beach about five minutes walk away where people like to snorkel and a much larger beach a bit further away in the centre of Dassia but well within walking distance. Dassia itself is a nice little resort with lots of eateries and friendly bars. there is also a very good bus service just at the end of the road, the buses are very cheap and clean and I thoroughly recommend them as an excellent way to get about. As I said, it was a great holiday at a great villa on a great island and would suit families or groups of friends alike. The owner is a very friendly and helpful man as well.

This place is great! We arrived in the evening and this place looked amazing from outside, when we went inside, it didnt disapoint! It was MASSIVE! Really clean, and very well decorated. 8 of us went (All family, ages ranging from 9 - 60) and everyone loved it, and could not believe how posh this place was! We felt like royalty! Our first port of call the next day was the pool. The pool is just the right size and was unbelieveably clean. There is a small shingle beach down the road the villa is on, but a much larger one further up the road, which has watersports and boat trips. We took a boat trip, which was amazing, it was the most relaxing day that I have had in years, BBQ on the beach, and a full day out from 11am till 5pm. All of the restaurants we went too had lovely food, which was never too expensive. The villa has a BBQ that we used and had a great night. Dassia itself is a really good place to stay, lots of busses that can get you to nearly anywhere you want to go, for a small fare. I cant recommend this villa enough, photos do not do this place justice. You have to see it to believe it!
