About the home

Villa Sfakoi is a large, mainly single storey stone house. It stands alone in its own quiet & secluded 2 1/2 acre plot of olive grove & rocky hillside. It is a unique property which offers the best of all worlds. It is a traditional Corfiot house, built of local stone from the plot on which the villa stands, yet it enjoys all the conveniences of modern living.The extensive grounds combine the best of the Mediterranean & English traditions. It is a building which is timeless and at one with its landscape.

It features a huge open plan vaulted sitting room which leads out onto a wonderful part covered terrace which spans the whole length of the house. Wide steps lead down from this terrace to the pool area. There is a child gate at the top of these steps and access to the pool terrace is only through lockable safety gates.

The English owner is a keen cook and the kitchen is exceptionally well equiped as a result.

One of the many great strengths of this property is that it has so much to offer a wide range of visitors. It offers seclusion & privacy but yet it is only 5 minutes drive from all the amenities in Kassiopi. For families with small children the lockable pool and spacious single storey layout of the villa, make for a relaxing holiday for their parents. Families with older children or family groups also love this house because there are so many terrace & seating areas, both inside & out, so that everyone can have their own space in which to relax and have fun or simply to while away the hours, sitting & admiring the stupendous view.

There are three en-suite bedrooms, all en-suite.

Strictly no smoking in the house, however, smoking outside is permitted proving that considerate disposal of waste is observed.

Refundable breakages deposit of £200 required on payment of final balance. Refundable within 14 days of the end of your stay minus any necessary deductions.

The Ionian Islands region

The island of Corfu is the most northerly of the Ionian Islands which lie just off the West coast of Greece. It is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful of all the Greek Islands, owing in part to the 2 million olive trees which were planted by the Venetians during their long rule of the Island. The mild Mediterranean climate has also shaped the beguiling landscape of profuse wildflowers in spring and autumn, classical cypress trees and, of course, the ubiquitous olive.

The Island's main Town is now a World Heritage site. It was largely built by the ruling Venetians in the 16th century and embellished by the French in the 19th century. The English legacy includes a cricket pitch, where occasional matches are still played.

The Corfu / Kassiopi area

Corfu is surrounded by a varied & beautiful coastline with high cliffs, secluded pebbled coves, some of which can only be reached by boat and also long sandy beaches.

Corfu Town is a fascinating, cosmopolitan place & the daily boat trips from Kassiopi provide the perfect way to visit.

There are many beachside tavernas in the local area offering a variety of traditional dishes.
Kassiopi also boasts several tavernas and restaurants offering a more international cuisine and it is well served by several small supermarkets. There is also a good range of bars and cafes catering for a wide age range of clientel.

An excellent spa Health Centre is nearby as is a Water Park. Another, larger Water Park is 50 minutes drive away near Corfu town.

Both from the villa itself and also within a short drive, there are many wonderful walks, both coastal and mountainous.

Boat Hire, Scuba Diving, wind sailing, waterskiing, wake boarding, tennis, horse riding and numerous excursions are all available in the vicinity.

There is a golf course 45 minutes drive away.

Corfu International Airport is 40km away - approximately one hours drive. EasyJet fly from London Gatwick, Bristol & Manchester, with daily flights in the high season. All the main charter companies fly to Corfu from various airports in UK and also from most European destinations. In addition there are scheduled flights via Athens & Thessaloniki.

Daily car ferries arrive from Mainland Greece and ports in Italy served by the budget airlines, (Ancona/Brindisi/Venice).

Car hire is recommended although a few visitors do prefer to walk or use the local taxi services.

“Best holiday we've ever had” We wanted a quiet, relaxing holday in a lovely house with a wonderful view; Sfakoi more than fitted the bill. When we arrived, we found a "welcome" hamper of delicious food which ensured that we had enough for a meal on the first evening (including a bottle of wine) and breakfast the next morning. This meant that we didn't have to go hunting for a restaurant when we arrived. We sat out on the terrace that first evening, eating our supper and drinking the wine, and listened to the grasshoppers in the fields below the house and thinking that this was truly a wonderful place to have come to. We hate airconditioning, so found the high ceilings in the bedrooms with their fans a much nicer alternative, and it meant that we could leave the french doors open to the air (anti-mozzi screens ensured that unwanted flying unwanted intruders were kept out) - much nicer than the modern way when all the doors and windows have to be kept shut. The bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully comfortable and have everything one could need. Our favourite place was sitting on the shaded veranda in comfy rattan chairs reading; then at 5pm when the sun got low, going for a leisurely swim in the pool.
