The Ionian Islands region
Corfu Town is just thirty minutes drive away from the 'Elysium' apartments, and simply must be seen when visiting the island. There is a wealth of architectural heritage to be seen reminding visitors of the many nations that have historically fought for the occupancy of the tiny island for thousands of past years due to its strategic location. Although the remaining architecture is largely Venetian, there are still many French and British influences to be found, giving the town a truly cosmopolitan feel and as such is widely recognised to be one of the most remarkable centres throughout Greece.
Places of interest on Corfu
'Corfu town' - Amazing architectural experience.
'Pantoktator' - Incredible views from the highest point on the island, almost 1000 metres above sea level, complete with restored monastery at the summit.
'Old Perithia' - Once abandoned ancient village lost in time, now slowly being restored and re-inhabited.
'Gouvia marina' - Fantastic modern marina offering superb facilities for boat owners and visitors, including sea plane excursions to other islands or just aerial sightseeing of Corfu.
'Mouse island' - Short boat trips regularly make visits to this tiny picture postcard island which has been used as the back drop to several film productions.
'The Achilleion Palace' Impressive Pompeian style building with beautiful gardens and statues. Built by Elizabeth the Empress of Austria and dedicated to Achilles.
'Lake Korission' - Corfu's largest lake, attracting an assortment of wildlife surrounded by massive sand dunes and excellent beaches.
'Aqualand' - Massive modern complex incorporating Europes largest water fun park.
Corfu / Paleokastritsa area
Sun, sea, sand and scenery, Paleokastritsa has it all. At the heart of its natural beauty can be found several picturesque bays with turquoise waters, which are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and watersports. The resort is backed by sheer cliffs of olive groves and cypress trees, and as such the terrain is ideal for individuals with interests in painting, photography, walking and hiking.
The resort hosts a wide range of amenities for young and old alike and has a fine selection of swimming pools, restaurants and bars.
Next to the main beach of Paleokastritsa a roads leads up to the world famous monastery, built on top of a cliff in a most idyllic setting. Visitors both foreign and local come to enjoy the spectacular beauty of the scenery each year.
Paleokastritsa has its own small harbour, this picturesque spot has a relaxed atmosphere where it is possible to hire day boats to visit nearby secluded beaches inaccessable by land, board one of the glass bottom boats or simply try your hand at fishing alongside the locals.
Close by are several neighbouring villages all of which represent the typically relaxed Greek way of life. Each has its own remarkable scenery, particularly Lakones village which is built high into the mountainside with incredible views down to Paleokastritsa resort.

"We would honestly not fault this accommodation at all. It is very clean and has everything you could possibly need on holiday. The location and setting with the stunning views are beautiful. You have both been perfect hosts and made us feel that nothing has been too much trouble." Julie and Chris Pemberton.
"We've had a great holiday and the apartments are definitely the best we've ever stayed in anywhere. It makes such a difference to stay somewhere that is so clean and well looked after and has that personal touch that is so rare. Plus the views are amazing." Julie and Ian Croston
"It was a pleasure staying in your apartment and I can't find any faults with it! Great location, great service and welcome, great facilities! Many thanks for making our holiday extra memorable." Gavin and Tracey Kerrigan
"Fantastic is the first thought that comes to mind. Sarah and myself can honestly say that although well travelled we haven't been to a more beautiful resort as you have here. Again thanks for being superb hosts, we look forward to seeing you both next year." Steve and Sarah Jarvis
