Tavern Way (TAVER)
Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Tavern Way Cottage is situated in the beautiful and ancient village of Corfe Castle which has managed to survive the passage of time. Part of the ancient castle still remains throwing an aura of authority over the village. The area of Purbeck has a special beauty with sweeping headlands, steeply ridged hills, heathland areas and coastline. Studland which is close by has a famous National Trust owned sandy beach which is approached via unspoilt scenery. You may take your car by the Studland chain ferry to Poole which is a special thrill for children. The village of Corfe offers special gift and craft shops, several up-market eating houses and coffee shops with cream teas. Much of the area is in the ownership of the Natural Trust and is designated as an area of outstanding beauty. Although the property fronts the main Wareham to Swanage road, secondary double glazing has been installed to minimise any road noise.

"Tired and grubby"
I booked Tavern Way via Dream Cottages for a week with my wife and 5 year old and 5 month old sons. I was aware the site warned the cottage was on the main road through Corfe. Just be aware this road … More

"Fantastic location and garden but disappointing inside"
Cottage is in a great location and has a wonderful long garden leading onto Corfe Common with views of Corfe Castle, garden gets sun all day long. Ground floor of the accommodation is ok, kitchen and bathroom look recently re-fitted and lounge has 2 new and comfortable settees however the rest of the furnishings are very old and shabby. The main bedroom is most in need of attention, I could not believe the state of the bedding, very old off white/grey duvet set with old navy blue pillowslips underneath and the base sheet looked like it had been balled up in a cupboard for months then put onto the bed all crumpled. All smelt very fusty and not fresh and clean at all. Carpets and curtains also very old and dirty looking. My impression was of a very old persons home that was in need of clearing out. This is a shame as with some updating this would be a fantastic rental property.
Thank you for your review, Dream Cottages takes all customer feed back very seriously and rest assured these comments will be passed on to the owner for their consideration.

Rooms were as advertised, with very acurate photos.
Fabulous location. Suited our needs perfectly. Stunning views from garden & possible to walk straight out onto the Dorset Way. Comfortable beds & more spacious upstairs than I had expected, but taller members of family had to watch their heads. Overnight strorage heaters were much more effective than I had expected too & the cottage was quite cosy (apart from the bathroom), although having the option to light a fire would have been perfect as it was very cold whilst we were away. Suprised that DVD was a blu ray player too - hadn't expected that. Parking space right outside the cottage on the pavement (seasonal?) for 1 car - within the width of the cottage, was useful when it was available. The neighbours are very friendly.
Steep stairs to bedrooms, so not so good for anyone with mobility issues & bathroom could do with some form of extra warmth in the winter as rather chilly first thing in the morning.
Would certainly rebook
