Villa La Penna
About the home
Bordered by the Old Town wall, the beautifully cared for garden has spectacular views across the Apuane Alps. The stone pillars and seating niche in the garden of this grand home, transport you into another time.
Although situated in the village, having been the village nobleman's house, the garden is completely secluded.
Enjoy breakfast or lunch in one of the interesting parts of the garden, spend the day by the pool savouring the views and dine in one of the 3 restaurants in the village before watching the wonderful Tuscan sunset.
The old features of the house have been wonderfully restored by Leonardo Guiddi, whose family have owned the house for hundreds of years. All the rooms have been restored with an eye to historic detail, with interesting Tuscan furniture and ornamentation enhanced by an original use of colour.
Beautifully restored and decorated, the garden apartment of the villa has a living room, a fully equipped kitchen and two communicating double bedrooms. It has a separate, private entrance.
Another bedroom and en-suite can be rented increasing capacity to 6 people
The large traditional Italian garden has a lovely private swimming pool.

Enquire nowThe Tuscany / Lucca Province region
Tuscany is the most popular region of Italy, famous for its wonderful climate, landscape, and art treasures.
The famous "art" cities of Florence, Sienna and Lucca are huge attractions, whilst the culinary tradition is there to be savoured.
The beautiful walled city of Lucca is only 30 minutes drive away, also reched by train. Lucca is one of Italy’s famous 'art cities', the labyrinth medieval streets hosting many museums and galleries. Lucca was the home of Puccini, and an opera is performed every single day of the year. There are a number of other festivals, notably the Lucca Summer Festival, which has several concerts throughout July and August, and has hosted Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Sting and Lauryn Hill among many others.
The famous outdoor Puccini festival is also held throughout July and August at nearby Torre del Lago. Coreglia is around 90minutes from Florence and 45 minutes from Pisa by train or car
The Coreglia Antelminelli area
Media Valle, set between Lucca and the Garfagnana, is an exotic, lush green area of Tuscany unaffected by mass tourism. The area is superb for walking and climbing, with the famous and spectacular gorge 'Orito di Bordo' nearby. There are also many ancient villages in the area, many worth exploring. The town of Barga, famous for its art exhibitions, summer opera, jazz and food festivals, is only a few kilometres away.
Also nearby is Bagni di Lucca, the spa resort of the Luchessi nobles, with its thermal baths, elegant villas and pretty surroundings. During the summer there are village festivals and concerts.
Coreglia itself is an interesting medieval town with an ancient wall surrounding its old buildings. It is recognised as one of the loveliest villages in Italy. Only the smallest of vehicles can access its narrow streets, making the village very safe for children and recalling the atmosphere of bygone days.
There are 3 restaurants in the village, friendly bars and pleasant parks.
The Garfagnana is a compact area, easily accessible and superb for walking and climbing, mountain biking and other outdoor activities. We have links to an outdoor activities centre who offer guided walks, world class gorge walking and mountain biking amongst other activities.
The whole region is well known for its excellent value cooking, using the best of local ingredients. A typical set lunch with 4 choices of pasta course, and 4 choices of main course costs only 9 Euros inclusive of bread, wine and coffee. It is possible to have a multi-course traditional Sunday lunch or dinner with ample wine, coffee and liquors for less than 25 Euros.
