Home description
A nice sierra landscape surrounds this recently built house (November 2007) and it is amazing how only 12km away from Cordoba there is such an exuberant and lush vegetation (holm oaks, cork oaks, quejigo, pine trees, etc.) The house is located in a private estate (3.000m2), on the most prominent part of it. It has a great plain on the front part of the house with garden furniture, an ideal place to prepare a barbecue; a playground for the children and the swimming pool complete the property’s appeals. In the interior we find a spacious and comfortable living room with a fireplace, a very well equipped kitchen and the bedrooms, which have heating in winter and big ceiling fans in summer.

The Inland Andalucia / Cordoba Province region
Cordoba, formerly the capital of the Muslim Spain, is the most important city of a territory located in the Herat of Andalucia geography. The Guadalquivir , which becomes stagnant in the middle of its course, comes across this province from the east to the west, fertilizing the plains where cereals, grapevines and olive trees are cultivated.
To the North, the countryside becomes frizzy, reaching the furthest tops of Sierra Morena, with an overcrowded wood and an intensive hunting activity.
To the South, the countryside goes up to the mountains of the Subbetica range. The olive groves and the elegant white villages with a well-preserved Baroque architecture extend all over these calcareous fields. The mountainous landscape gives shelter to a varied fauna.
The province of Cordoba houses the traces of its Iberian, Roman and Muslim past. Indeed, it possesses an impressive monumental heritage and a tradition as rich as its gastronomy, which has been remarkably fomented with the purpose of retrieving the varied recipes of the traditional cooking.
Cordoba area
Location: 12km away from the North of Cordoba, World Heritage city, where we have a compulsory visit to the Mosque-Cathedral (one of the most singular and beautiful monuments in Andalucia), the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, Caballerizas Reales, Julio Romero de Torres Museum, Museo Taurino, etc.
If we walk along its historic centre, a maze with intricate narrow streets, we can enjoy its numerous and beautiful patios and bars which, in April and May, fill the place with colour. Medina Azahara (another compulsory visit) was the caliph palace town, a place where luxury, refinement and art were present at every corner and surrounded the town during that age of splendour, an example of life together of The Three Monotheist Cultures (Islam, Judaism and Christianity). 1 hour away from Sevilla airport and 2 hours from Malaga airport.
About 5 km from the capital city you can visit the remains of the Medina Azahara or Madinat al-Zahra, a court city built on the orders of Caliph Abd al-Rahman III to become the capital of the Caliphate, the royal residence and seat of government. As legend goes, it was his favourite, called Zahra, who suggested he build this beautiful city, hence its name.
