TOMBS OF THE KINGS
Spread over a vast area, these impressive underground tombs date back to the 4th century BC. They are carved out of solid rock with some being decorated with Doric pillars. High officials rather than Kings were buried here, but the magnificence of the tombs gave the locality its name.
PAFOS MEDIEVAL FORT
Originally a Byzantine fort built to protect the harbour, it was rebuilt by the Lusignans in the 13th century, dismantled by the Venetians in 1570 and rebuilt by the Ottomans after they captured the island in the 16th century.
Pafos
Sanctuary of Aphrodite, Palaipafos Museum, Mediaeval Manor
Kouklia village, 14 km (9 miles) east of Pafos
Palaipafos, Old Pafos, was one of the most celebrated pilgrimage centres of the ancient Greek world, and once city-kingdom of Cyprus. Here stood the famous sanctuary of Aphrodite, the most amcient remains of which date back to the 12th century BC. The glorious days of the sanctuary lasted till the 3rd-4th century. The museum, housed in the Lusignan Manor, contains many interesting finds from the area, and excavations continue on the site of the sanctuary, the city and the necropolis.
It was around 1200 BC when Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Beauty, emerged from the gentle jade-coloured sea foam at Petra tou Romiou, a boulder that juts up from the south coast of Cyprus as majestically today as it did then. The name Aphrodite, in fact, means “foam born.” She was the most ancient goddess in the Olympian pantheon

All Id like to say what a fantastic, well kept appointed villa. It is as it looks on the photos both insidde and out. The only thing I would recommend a hire car or another mode of transport ,is a must to get around. Taxi was only 10eures into Coral bay. Which has everything you would need for your holiday. |

If you are looking for a relaxing quiet holiday, as we were, then i would definitely recommend Serendipitous Villa in Cyprus. We have never been to Cyprus before but would definitely go back. This villa is spacious, tastefully decorated, well equipped, and very home from home. It is situated about 3 miles from Coral Bay so a hire car is a must, don't rely on any buses, we never saw one in the whole week we were there, and taxis are incredibly expensive, like off the scale,(we were given good advice). You need a car to visit all the lovely places, but hire a 4x4, everyone who lives there has one. There is a petrol station about 200 yards down the road and a lovely cafe/bar right next door, which is great for breakfast or lunch, Tracey who runs the cafe/bar is so lovely. Going the other way, about 700 yards, there is a lovely restaurant on the right side of the road where they make some lovely food, George owns this and is very helpful. Just outside Coral Bay there is a big supermarket where you can buy everything you need. There are some lovely restaurants/bars in Coral Bay, but they are a bit pricey, but Coral Bay is lovely and so is the beach, and also Koralia Beach. Have a ride out up into the mountains where a lot of ex-pats live, the views are amazing. All in all a really lovely holiday, you won't be disapointed. The villa was just great for the two of us,but would suit a family also. We recommend it - enjoy! |

We could not fault our holiday we had at the Serendipitous Villa The pictures on the Internet don't do it justice. The villa is spacious and is very well equipped. There is mini Market and restaurant and Bus stop all within few Minutes walk from the villa. We would definitely recommend the villa and would go back. |
