A 13th-century BC settlement, Maa-Paleokastro, has been excavated above its northern end.Lots of watersports and family-friendly activities. Plenty of eating places, sunbeds and parasols, plus inflatables, parascending, diving and water skiing. Even at its height it is possible to walk beyond the sunbeds and find uncluttered sand and relative peace.

Coral Bay is a few minutes from the evolving hillside village of Peyia. An ancient church overlooks its centre, while the narrow streets and alleyways are full of old and interesting houses. The village is still largely unspoilt with lively tavernas where you can eat at a fraction of the cost you would find in the main tourist areas.
