About the home
Situated on the pristine North East Coast at Cooten Bay This newly built, one-bedroom house offers an amazing panoramic view over the islands and beaches on this, still largely undeveloped, side of Tortola. The style of Cooten House is modern Caribbean with a tasteful collection of out of the ordinary furnishings and art-deco pieces lending a slightly "retro" feel to the peaceful and beautiful location.
The large and airy kitchen/living room comes well equipped with modern, high-end stainless steel appliances, custom cabinetry and hardwood counter tops as well as huge vintage industrial lights, Driftwood table, antique cupboards and a comfortable, stylish sitting area. With a high quality Bose sound system and a large LCD TV hooked up to cable and other A/V equipment (including a massive library of movies and music) the house has been carefully designed and equipped to be a relaxing, comfortable home
In the bedroom is a custom made queen size and the bathroom features a lovely old marble sink from a Turkish bath house. Outside is a large covered balcony, pergola and sunken sun deck with a 156 jet Hot Tub complete with waterfalls, LED lighting and it's own sound system close by is a bright orange vintage enameled fire-place. The house sits on a private 1/2 acre lot with no other house visible nearby.
Cooten House overlooks the Cootens Bay, a renowned surf break in the winter months. Just next to the small rocky beach is an amazing old ruin untouched since the 18th century complete with original cannon lying in the undergrowth. Close by are two beautiful secluded golden sand beaches, Rogues bay and Trunk Bay.

The Tortola region
Tortola is the largest of the British Virgin Islands. Truly a nature’s little secret. It offers visitors peace and quiet, plus every activity they could hope for. The island also offers many choices in terms of cuisine, from continental to local fare.
Breakfast can be a cappuccino and croissant, lunch a West Indian roti, and dinner a fine dining caribbean fusion feast. And Tortola's rugged peaks play host to terrific hiking trips, like the 1700 foot peak Mt. Sage. But, Tortola's best asset? Wonderful, undeveloped and untouched beaches. From Cane Garden Bay to Smuggler's Cove and Brewers Bay Tortola has probably the nicest beaches in the Caribbean.
The Cooten Bay area
Cooten Bay is a renowned surf break in the winter months. Just next to the small rocky beach is an amazing old ruin untouched since the 18th century complete with original cannon lying in the undergrowth.
Only 4 minutes drive from Cooten House are two beautiful and secluded golden sand beaches, Rogues Bay (Lava Flow) and Trunk Bay. The house is only 10 minutes driving from Road Town and all the restaurants, bars and local shops.

My husband and I stayed at The Cooten house from Jan29-Feb4 and I have to say when we arrived that night we were a bit worried. Worried about location because it was dark and we were being taken through hills, dirt roads, and there weren't any street names so we thought how the heck are we going to find our way back!! We arrived at the house and it was absolutely what I imagined and so much more :-) Marija & Jeremy were helpful and SUPER NICE they even picked up a few things from the grocery store since our ferry arrived late and the store was closed. I have to say that when we woke up the next morning and saw our views from our bed it was just breathtaking and all that worrying went away!!! I have to say that we couldn't had picked a better place to stay but I will say that a 4x4 CAR RENTAL IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST IF YOUR STAYING AT The Cooten House. Our second day in my husband figured the island out and we had no problems getting back to the house and we would do it all over again. If I had anything bad to say about Cooten House it was it had a couple of power outages while we were there but the problem didnt last long so that wasnt a problem since we were on vacation and were in and out of the house. Picking The Cooten House and renting a car is the best way to go and I would NEVER PICK OR GO BACK TO A RESORT AGAIN if I don't have to! I just want to Thank Marija & Jeremy for checking in on us and making our stay WONDERFUL ;-) We will definitely be back!!!! -The Honeymooners- |

I really enjoyed my stay at cooten house. Very private and confortable house, overlooking guana island and great camanue island. Jeremy and marija were really helpful and hospitable. Amazing beach very close by: lava flow. Be sure to rent an SUV, as the road leading to the house is steep and rough dirt. Only negative note: the wifi internet did not work and we had a 3 hour power outage one ocassion. Can't beat the price and the location. Highly recommended. Hope to come back soon. |
