The North Wales region

North Wales is a great combination of the family seaside resorts, which extend along its northern coastline and of course the magnificent mountains that make up Snowdonia Nation Park. Also located in this region are the very distinctive Island of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula. So visitors will find a diverse holiday destination that caters for many different types of holidays from the family beach holiday to serious climbing holidays, and lots in between. There are plenty of things to do here; walking, sailing, fishing and many indoor attractions for the children. Wildlife enthusiasts will not be disappointed, with Anglesey and the Lleyn peninsula in particular being rich in diverse mix of habitats.

Conwy

No holiday in this region is complete without a visit to the friendly and vibrant tourist resort of Llandudno. With an excellent range of attractions such as a bustling pier and promenade, cable car and dry-ski slope there is something for all tastes here. Highly recommended for a family day out is Colwyn Bay's award-winning Welsh Mountain Zoo. This is a facility that takes animal welfare extremely seriously and is well worth a visit. History lovers must visit the majestic castles to be found at Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Conwy. Built during the reign of the infamous English King Edward I as a means of suppressing the Welsh people, they are today considered to be some of the finest examples of medieval architecture in Europe and fantastic modern-day visitor attractions. An absolute must is a trip to the sublime village of Betws y Coed. Just six miles away, the village is recognised as the gateway to the spectacular Snowdonia National Park and also home to excellent visitor facilities such as a popular miniature railway. The local walks starting from the village are delightful and the gorgeous trail to the nearby Swallow Falls another priority for first time visitors to the area.
