Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Cefn-Rhyd is a pretty two bedroom welsh country cottage seven miles outside the popular tourist hotspot of Betws Y Coed in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. The cottage’s central yet rural location means guests benefits from being within easy access to many of Snowdonia’s attractions as well as being assured of a quiet nights sleep. And best of all there’s one pub just about walking distance away. (Bring a torch!)
On the ground floor there’s a contemporary kitchen dinner with dishwasher, washing machine etc. There’s also a ground floor double bedroom and a nice modern bathroom with shower over bath.
One of the most attractive features of the overall layout is that the lounge has been placed upstairs. This large elevated living area enjoys some fantastic views over the fields surrounding the cottage. A second doorway of the lounge leads down the original external stone stairway to the private lawn and patio area. Finally an upstairs twin bedroom has been nicely furnished in matching black and white linen and yet more views over the rolling hills and mountains.

About this location
The North Wales region
Once at the cottage you’ll want to explore Llyn (Lake) Brennig nearby which provides fishing, sailing and cycling opportunities. The riverside chocolate house nearby will try and tempt you with an irresistible array of fine, hand made chocolates. And you’ll doubtlessly walk the slopes of the hypnotic Mynydd Hiraethog (Mountain of Longing) and along the banks of the Merddwr River during your stay. You’ll also have to stroll across to the Giller Arms at some point. Try a pint or two of their local ale and sample their excellent home cooked food. If only to be polite.
A short drive in the car will bring you to Betws Y Coed. The village has long been a favorite of many guests to this part of North Wales. A selection of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs can be found here. The village is most famed however as a gathering point for mountain bikers, canoeists, walkers and rock climbers. A little further again guests can visit Llanberis and Mount Snowdon as well as the Harbour Town of Porthmadog and the beaches of Black Rock Sands.
Guests can relive the industrial past of the area with trips on the narrow gauge railway running to Llandudno and deep underground quarry tours in Blaenau Ffestiniog. A visit to Dolwyddelan Castle and then Capel Garmon Burial Chambers will take you further and further back in time.
