The North Wales region

North Wales has a heritage as rich as its spectacular scenery with the mountains of Snowdonia, beautiful beaches and medieval castles. The area offers a range of opportunities from traditional cultural events, historical exploration and heritage sites to outdoor activities and sightseeing which always prove popular with families, outdoor sports enthusiasts and also those just looking for peace and tranquillity.

Numerous visitor attractions include Snowdonia National Park. The popular seaside resort of Llandudno, several World Heritage sites like the stunning Caernarfon Castle and the impressive Pontcysyllte aqueduct designed by Thomas Telford, there is the Mediterranean styled village of Portmeirion, not to mention the many art galleries, studios, museums and theatres which form part of the rich cultural heritage of this amazing country.

Conwy

Conwy is located on the banks of the Conwy river estuary opposite Deganwy and a short distance from Llandudno. It is famous for its well preserved 13th Century castle and associated town walls (3/4 mile long with 22 towers). Other historical buildings include the 14th Century Abeconwy House and Plas Mawr, an Elizabethan house built in 1576 and has been extensively refurbished to its original 16th-century appearance. Conwy has become a popular destination with many restaurants, cafes, shops, busy quay (where you can find the smallest house in Great Britain) and a modern marina. Throughout the year a number of markets and events are held here including the Conwy Food Festival and the Pirate Weekend.
