The North Wales region
A spectacularly beautiful area, North Wales has something for everyone. There are lots of bike trails, walks and climbs in the Snowdonia National Park and closer to home. For history enthusiasts, start your tour with local visits to the medieval walled town of Conwy, or the copper mines on the Great Orme, Llandudno. And, whilst the historians are in the mines, the thrill seekers can enjoy a ride down the toboggan run, or a swoosh down the ski slope of the Orme.
National Trust members will be able to put their cards to good use as Bodnant Gardens and Penrhyn Castle are both a short drive away. (Other National Trust Properties are available, but these are our favourites!) If bird watching is your thing, take a trip to the RSPB bird sanctuary near Llandudno Junction.
Culturally, there are theatres, cinemas and art galleries. The Welsh National Opera and BBC National Orchestra of Wales regularly perform at the Venue Cymru, Llandudno. A superb contemporary craft gallery is located in the lovely town of Ruthin, which also has a fabulous restaurant. Conwy hosts a number of festivals throughout the year including a Blue Grass and Food Festival. Literature about events can be found in the house.
Lovers of antiques can find a wealth of shops and antique fairs locally and further afield. (You might even find a bargain in one of the many charity shops (especially the 'non corporate' ones or boot fairs!!)
Golf clubs, tennis courts and bowling greens can be found locally, too.
Deganwy, a lovely little seaside village, is a mixed and friendly community. The southwesterly facing beach has a sweet promenade with views across the Conwy estuary towards the castle, with the mountains of Snowdonia completing the idyllic picture.
A street away from the property, is the Vardre hill. A climb to the top of the hill offers some great panoramas of the Great Orme of Llandudno and the Conwy Estuary.
Within 5 minutes walk of the house are a gastro pub and corner shop. A ten minute walk will bring you to the beach, antique shops, high quality restaurants, a Post Office and coffee shops .
