The beach at Constantine can be reached down the beach road at the end of the lane, or, at Sailaway, you can just continue down the rural lane to meet the footpath at the end. This path links the golf course with the beach – so just turn right to stroll up to the club house, or left for the beach. The path emerges in the middle of the fantastic dunes at the top of the Constantine beach after less than 5 minutes walk, and is perfect when heading for Booby's Bay or on to magnificent Trevose Head. Sailaway is surrounded by some of Cornwall's finest beaches – all within a few minutes walk or drive.

Padstow is only 10 minutes drive away -with its array of boutique shopping and gourmet food including the well known Stein eateries.

Sailaway has been built on a plot of land owned for many years by the Harris family, whose holiday home, Wastehills, is a nearby property at Constantine Bay. In the early nineteen hundreds, the author Catharine Amy Dawson Scott bought many strips of land in the locality. The area was then known as The Wastralls, Cornish for rough or unused land. She built Wastehills for herself, as well as three other properties for her three children: the original Harlequin (then a small wooden house), Lynx and Holt.

She entertained Galsworthy, Rebecca West, Noel Coward, and many other famous writers of the time at Wastehills. The Harris family rented Faraway for many years as their holiday retreat before buying Wastehills in the late 1940s - and with Wastehills came the extra land on which the Sailaway now stands. The family like to think that Catharine would have loved Sailaway and that future generations will continue to enjoy the beauty of this unique and very special part of Cornwall.

The Cornwall region

Cornwall provides the most dramatic and beautiful coastline in the UK. It is a popular holiday area - with wonderful beaches and a fantastic coastline and moors for walking.

The Eden Project is the most popular tourist attraction - but the art galleries of St Ives and Padstow and Lands End itself provide interest and entertainment. However, for most, the rugged landscape and rich history make a trip to Cornwall very special indeed.

Constantine Bay

The North Cornwall area is renowned for beautiful beaches, great walks, surfing, championship golf courses and wonderful array of restaurants and boutiques in Padstow and along the coast. Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver have restaurants within 10 minutes drive of Sailaway at Constantine.

Fresh food abounds - and there are plenty of fun activities all within 30 minutes drive. The Trevose/Padstow area is known these days as the top area in Cornwall for discerning travellers.
